pauledell Posted December 31, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2014 Dee, Lovely lavender. I am sorry but I find the background to be distracting to the flowers. Paul
fotografr Posted December 31, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2014 Dee, this is a fantastic still life. I could easily see this printed very large, framed and hanging on a gallery wall. The background is subtle and very interesting. PS--I wrote my comment before reading Paul's. Interesting how people see things so differently. platypus Posted December 31, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted December 31, 2014 Paul....no apologies needed! thanks for taking the time to add your very valid comment. Brent....thanks for looking and liking this! I can certainly understand Paul's point. Personally I love patterns, here I see the flowers as only a part of the pattern I've created within the frame of this photo.
Iduna Posted December 31, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2014 Dee, what a nice stillife to give light into our grey gloomy winter world! The light colours and the composition are really perfect. Paul is probably right but this can be easily adjusted with a few mouseclicks and the white pattern will be a tad more in the background. In such cases I use Topaz filters and rubber tool. but the picture works also like it is now and personally I feel it can as well as it is or changed. - Lavender has such anice color and along with it one feels its fragrance
jedi996sps Posted December 31, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 31, 2014 Great still life. In contrast, i find the background adds to the overall still life

Northwest Wanderer Posted December 31, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 31, 2014 Nice image. To me the background makes me slow down and really look at the image closely. That's not a bad thing in this fast world we live in.
platypus Posted January 1, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted January 1, 2015 Iduna, Ali, Stuart and Bill.....thank you for your interesting comments. I love how this has appealed (or not) to everyone in a different way.
JohannB Posted January 1, 2015 Share #10 Posted January 1, 2015 For me the background complements the lavender in the old bottle. It adds texture to the frame and gives some context to the area the photo was taken. I like it. Johann
