I can't believe they are skipping Bryan Adams and Seal. Whatever happened to Howard Jones? He owned a chrome R4 back in '89. thighslapper Posted November 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 10, 2014 Bonkers..... ...... why not just allow 'a la carte' on the M as with some other Leicas and add the same Limited Edition price premium ? ..... that would keep everybody happy .... jdlaing Posted November 10, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2014 We need a Jerry Garcia edition. It could come with white gloves and a pound of pharmaceuticals.
250swb Posted November 11, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 11, 2014 I wish Dolly Parton used a Leica, maybe she does and nobody at Leica wants you to know, but it would be one for the collectors wife. As rhetoric it begs the question what has Lenny Kravitz done for photography with a Leica that Annie Leibovitz for example hasn't exceed? It's starting to look like very much like a mans club in the little room where they dream these up. Steve

mjh Posted November 11, 2014 Share #7 Posted November 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Who is buying these special editions anway? I don’t really get the collector mind-set so I have no idea what would appeal to this type of customer. Maybe Leica has. <shrug>
A miller Posted November 11, 2014 Share #8 Posted November 11, 2014 I didn't know Lenny was designing the new Monochrom. I ran into him a couple of weeks ago in NYC while on a shoot. He was storming back to his trailer after throwing a minor fit at the set. Perhaps sharing some of my Monochrom love would have helped his mood? MM/28mm summaron Welcome, dear visitor! patrick parker Posted November 11, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted November 11, 2014 Hendrix could be compared to an M3 or M6. Prince, maybe an R8 or an R9. Kravitz could be any camera from the Leica-Panasonic line.

I don’t really get the collector mind-set so I have no idea what would appeal to this type of customer. Maybe Leica has. <shrug> Its the same as for Cars. The new model goes out the door pretty fast, then things slow down a bit, dealers have to discount to compete against the second hard market, margins shrink, along come the special editions ... and then eventually the next model. I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that Leica will eventually get around to something _really_ new. So far they are milking the camera platforms for all they are worth. Perhaps an M with an integrated EVF
Chuck Albertson Posted November 11, 2014 Share #11 Posted November 11, 2014 Hendrix could be compared to an M3 or M6.Prince, maybe an R8 or an R9. Kravitz could be any camera from the Leica-Panasonic line. If they ever do a Hendrix edition, they need to place the shutter release on the left side. Photoskeptic Posted November 11, 2014 Share #12 Posted November 11, 2014 Never heard of him. OTOH, they could do a Clapton ltd. ed. He has been sighted many times w/Leica drooping from the shoulder or neck.

james.liam Posted November 12, 2014 Share #14 Posted November 12, 2014 How about a 'Steve Jobs Edition'. Cutting edge EVF or hybrid VF, huge buffer, ultra high resolution rear LCD-sapphire cover of course, fastest chip set in the business, lightning write times, fully-baked firmware and GPS+WiFi +Bluetooth built in. patrick parker Posted November 16, 2014 Author Share #16 Posted November 16, 2014 I would go over 10.000 for a William Klein edition fridge. Something in red and violet maybe, or any colour combination that may represent all the amazing things this great man did for the art of food preservation.
