Echo63 Posted October 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I spent an hour or so watching some of Western Australias best tree climbers and arborists hanging around in Hyde Park this afternoon. An interesting hobby, hanging out of trees, and certainly an odd sport to watch, although most competitors do it full time, carrying a chainsaw. pics are from the "work climb" section, where competitors must move safely through the tree, visiting 5 "work stations" and after attaching a safety lanyard, must use a handsaw to ring a bell, or perform another task, before abseiling out of the tree and landing on a target. all pics taken with my M240 and 50 Summarit. Echo63 Posted October 11, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted October 11, 2014 Thanks for posting - interesting series.I'd never heard of this before. I had known that Arborists use rope access when working in trees, (pruning and felling) but wasn't aware its actually a sport, until a fellow photographer had to photograph a preview pic earlier in the week. was pretty good to watch though, they move around the tree like monkeys !
