mfunnell Posted October 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2014 Nice one! I think he get's it. From the article: This camera takes the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen, and shooting with it is a zenlike experience. ...Mike
justj Posted October 3, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 3, 2014 Best sandwich photo I have seen taken by a Leica camera. In fact, it's the best photo I have seen taken by Leica. Period.

Herr Barnack Posted October 3, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 3, 2014 The comments section following the article is most entertaining though. As someone rightly observed, the M-P is not the most expensive camera on the market. There are many that exceed the price of the M-P and the M240 - yet for some nebulous and illogical reason, Leica is the brand that inspires hatred in the small minded... danedit28 Posted October 3, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's a very fair and accurate review and I love the way he trolls the trolls. I'm someone who ditched $20k in DSLR paperweights for the Leica M system (first M9, then M240, and now M-P) and I couldn't agree more with his assessment. I used to get one keeper out of fifty on a DSLR but now I keep nine out of ten shots.

CheshireCat Posted October 4, 2014 Share #11 Posted October 4, 2014 The sandwich photo is amazing, but the traffic cone photo blows me away. Pure Leica excellence.
Rick Posted October 4, 2014 Share #12 Posted October 4, 2014 I think this is a spoof review. He writes, "In fact, this camera doesn’t have an autofocus system at all! It’s a rangefinder, so you’ll need to use manual focus for everything." Either, the writer has no idea what he is doing or he is just trying to stir up a response by writing a review that will repulse his readers into hating Leica. I think the sandwich photo and the traffic cone shot are are the tip off. He should have included a wide open aperture shot of a cat that only has the nose in focus. That would have sealed it as a fake for me. Either way, just more fluff from Wired.
Rick Posted October 4, 2014 Share #13 Posted October 4, 2014 After reading the author in the comment section I can see that he wasn't spoofing a review. He was just excited about the camera like we were when we first tried it. He is a little unfamiliar with M cameras like I was when I started out, but he is apparently sincere and seems to "get it." Jeffry Abt Posted October 4, 2014 Share #15 Posted October 4, 2014 He does seem to "get it". We of all people should understand his being smitten. The camera is beautiful on so very many levels.
algrove Posted October 4, 2014 Share #16 Posted October 4, 2014 I hate the exposed screw. I dislike the saffire screen. I dislike the large Leica writing on the top. I dislike the term Wetzler. I dislike the silver front buttons on the black body. I might like the 2GB buffer. The price is way too high. I thnk we should all get a refurbished a7 for $1000 which is nearly the price of the MF grip for the M-P.

The other has Leica scribbled on it. The Sony's make stunning pictures but are totally uninspiring to use, for me. The Leica's are fun. And, if the thing you see first when looking at a picture is how great the dynamic range is, then it has already failed on many levels. indergaard Posted October 4, 2014 Share #20 Posted October 4, 2014 So a reviewer is ecstatic about a Leica camera and all you do is call it a spoof and at the same time accuse the reviewer of trying to create Leica hate. Great. Awesome guys.
