jaapv Posted September 24, 2014 Share #21 Posted September 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you everybody for all your help and interest in my problem. Bank transfer sounds interesting and would solve many of my problems. But can I trust Red Dot (for me this is a lot of money...)? Regards Johan If you can't trust Red Dot I would not know who you can trust.
JohanS Posted September 24, 2014 Author Share #22 Posted September 24, 2014 I'm not shure paying with a credit card covers me more than if I was paying cash, exept when buying online. Regards Johan

gabriel Posted September 25, 2014 Share #24 Posted September 25, 2014 As already stated here in the UK a credit card issuer is jointly responsible with the retailer for the goods and in the UK is the safest way to purchase from any store, mail order or provider of services. I always use a credit card even if I have to pay a small charge in certain cases for this reason. I have dealt with Red Dot since they first opened and always found them to be extremely reliable
Ted Lemon Posted September 25, 2014 Share #25 Posted September 25, 2014 I have dealt with Red Dot since they first opened and always found them to be extremely reliable They have been my goto dealer for years and I totally agree with this statement... thighslapper Posted September 25, 2014 Share #26 Posted September 25, 2014 Please note that neither Red Dot or Leica Mayfair will accept Oil, Reindeer or Herring. Plastic is best and not a problem. London is full of tourists stocking up on high end gear of all sorts .... All the UK Leica official dealerships are trustworthy. If they weren't they would be featuring on this forum regularly ..... JohanS Posted September 25, 2014 Author Share #27 Posted September 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you Ted Lemon and gabriel! I have dealt with Red Dot since they first opened and always found them to be extremely reliable I understand from their homepage that they have been in business for a number of years. Are their financial standing/results available on the web as it would be in Norway if they were located here? Regards Johan
thighslapper Posted September 25, 2014 Share #28 Posted September 25, 2014 probably not ....... but I too have bought plenty of things from them mail-order over the years and they are honest, reliable and very helpful. why not compromise and take a mixture of cash and plastic ? The worst that can happen is you may have a faulty camera or one that needs some adjustment .... and Leica's warranty covers you worldwide for that .... and if bought in the UK you would have the 'Passport' cover for accidental damage etc for the first year as well .... (probably) I don't think there is much to worry about .... just whether your CC card covers the amount or not. I was in Leica Mayfair when an American guy bought £55,000 of M bodies and lenses by credit card .......

johnwolf Posted September 25, 2014 Share #33 Posted September 25, 2014 Sign up for an airline credit card, preferrably one with a big mileage bonus. Then charge your purchase, get more miles, and fly free somewhere to get acquainted with your new camera. John
lamefrog Posted September 26, 2014 Share #34 Posted September 26, 2014 That reminds me of a story : I was at Adorama one evening in the early days of the M9 and overheard this Chinese guy negotiating the purchase of 10 M9s. He wanted more but that was the limit . Ph.

k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 30, 2014 Share #39 Posted September 30, 2014 You might send a PM, Brian, and invite JohanS for a coffee or two, well, maybe even for breakfast. Good luck with your purchase, Johan. I started moving around with my M9 + several glasscreations freely, after I had it insured. Just a recommendation.
