Digilux 2 LC1 in a smaller body

m43 sensor.

Summilux F1.7-2.8 : 24-75mm.

Quite something to get a Lux (even a Panaleica).

Aperture & focus ring.

Shutter dial.

Exposure compensation dial.

2.7M dot EVF.

3cm close focus.

Throsten will love this as will others I think.

(Panasonic Lx100 videos on youtube).

Had a similar thought when I read the rumor site story. We should hear very soon now. :)

Of course, the D2 / LC1 was mostly about that fast (f2 - f2.4), Leica-designed, non-telescoping lens, with a useful range of 28mm to 90mm plus lens rings for aperture, manual focus, and zoom. The build quality, silent shutter, and ergonomics of the D2 are noteworthy too.

Such a formula could still work. But let's hope for modern things like shorter lag times, faster auto focus, high resolution/integrated EVF, high resolution/flip-down LCD, good ISO performance with easy adjustment, no AA filter, weather-sealing, and classic good looks like the D2 - only somewhat smaller.

Could be a nice travel camera. The rumored 24mm wide-end would be an improvement.

Will be interesting to see how this model fits into the Leica lineup, assuming the rumor is true.

Also wonder how this camera fits with Panny's GX7, a clever m4/3 model supported by an impressive interchangeable lens family.
