The first Peterborough Classic Car Show, weekend September 13/14 2014 on the Nene Embankment near the city centre gave me an opportunity to try out a 1970 vintage Leitz Super Angulon 21mm f4 lens with my R9/DMR. Yesterday I experienced flare problems but this morning I found the 12506 hood which enabled some better results. Cars, bikes and commercial vehicles were exhibited and several 'big eats' vendors attended:

This 1949 Triumph Roadster was scrapped in 1960 and was then left outside for 8 years - thence moved into a cowshed for 12 years from where rescued by the current owner in 1980 … then underwent a 6 year restoration to concours standard.

Dunk,

Your results with the Super-Angulon 21/4.0 are typical. It does flare a lot, worse without the hood. I have not used mine a lot since I got the 21-35/4.5 Vario-Elmar-R. Now, however, I want to go back to the Super-Angulon to exploit the flare characteristics of the lens when appropriate. But I have not done it yet!
