beckzito Posted March 1, 2016 Share #304 Posted March 1, 2016 Yes, my main doubt was the automatic switch, even with third party lenses.
beckzito Posted March 2, 2016 Share #305 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) if, for instance, i grab the zeiss tele tessar wich is a 85mm, how the camera knows wich lines to display? thanks again Edited March 2, 2016 by beckzito
Guest Posted March 2, 2016 Share #306 Posted March 2, 2016 The camera will select the type of frame-lines by a small flange on the lens mount. When a company makes lenses (Leica, Zeiss, Voigtländer, etc.) they machine the lens mount to bring up certain frame-lines in the viewfinder. In the case of the Zeiss 85mm lens, it will most likely bring up the 90mm frame-lines inside the viewfinder, as it's the frame-lines closest to the focal length. gwpics Posted March 12, 2016 Share #307 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered a used M7 today, and I am looking forward to getting back to film after 13 or 14 years. I bought it mainly as a backup in case anything goes wrong with my M9, but having said that i shot film for around 40+ years from the age of 14 and it will be good to play with it again. Back to the world of exploring which film is best handled by the processors I guess because i don't want to get into the processing side of life, which I never did enjoy. it should arrive on Tuesday complete with an 'Artisan' half-case and a Leicatime strap - such class! Doc Henry Posted March 12, 2016 Author Share #308 Posted March 12, 2016 Hi Gerry , so congratulations for your new companion . You are in the same case as me, I still have my 2 CCD digital cameras M9-M8 , but I do not use at all or very little. I only take film at 98% Don't forget to post here , your nice M7 with AA case Gerry , black or chrome ? Best Henry
R6M6 Posted March 12, 2016 Share #309 Posted March 12, 2016 Hi Gerry, I have the same travelling set up - M9 and M7 as "back up". But I use knowingly on some days the M7 only and I like these days because it is a camera driven slow down with very nice results. Enjoy your new M7! R6M6 and Doc Henry I really appreciate your encouraging post as I have been vacillating back and forth about which way to jump for some time. The saving of maybe +1400€ at least played a big part in my final decision, especially as this was to be a 'spare' camera, but now I have jumped I cannot wait to get it in my hands and to get film into it. The decision was helped by the results I have obtained by scanning some slides from 1996 and converting them in to b&w. I have not posted them here because they were not shot on a Leica, but they are the at the top left of my Flickr page. To answer Henry's query it is black, but I don't do photos of cameras (sorry!) gwpics Posted March 15, 2016 Share #311 Posted March 15, 2016 Well, my new (to me) M7 arrived this morning, and so did 5 rolls of Fuji Neopan 400CN so now all I have to do is put a lens on the front end and of I go! The camera looks and feels brand new because it has been nestled in the Artisan & Artist half case which was supplied with it, and there is not a mark to be seen. Excellent service from Harrison Cameras in Sheffield (www.harrisoncameras.co.uk) who can I recommend yet again. Gerry

gwpics Posted March 17, 2016 Share #315 Posted March 17, 2016 This is the first image I have posted from the Leica M7, and is from the first roll of film which was Fuji Neopan 400CN (C-41) scanned as a .tiff file using Silverfast. I am quite happy with this, although the subject is a bit bland. I just wanted to test the camera out. It was shot at 400iso with the 35mm Summarit, and processed by a local lab.
