wilfredo Posted September 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went out to meet some of my new neighbors today along with my wife. We live in Harlem and enjoyed a very cool Block Party. I grew up in the Bronx and have vivid memories of "white flight." Now I'm witnessing a reverse phenomenon. The face of Harlem is changing. I had a great time today chatting with my neighbors, while enjoying a beer and some good food. Some of my White neighbors are European (French, German). There was a real mix of people out there, everyone having a good time. I even met a dog named Leica. It's refreshing to experience this mix of people in what many people still consider a ghetto, and not perceiving any racial tension. As a person of color, it is a relief to experience a shift towards tolerance, although I suspect that the social divide is more about class now, than anything else. I hope you enjoy the photos and share your thoughts. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! A miller Posted September 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2014 very nice, Wilfredo. I assume you are using the 50mm lux asph. It's like the best lens ever! Love the rendering and PP.

A miller Posted September 7, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 7, 2014 I am not good at picking out lenses. But this is one that I can spot a mile away.
wilfredo Posted September 7, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted September 7, 2014 I am not good at picking out lenses. But this is one that I can spot a mile away. Some have made the claim that it is the best lens Leica has ever produced. Women tend not to like it, it's clinically sharp, but for general purposes, I can't find any fault with it. Its is definitely the sharpest, wide open, of any lens I own, and a great lens for street shots. I don't anticipate ever parting with it.
Timmyjoe Posted September 7, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wow Wilfredo, the whole set is wonderful. You captured such life. And such beautiful tones. Thanks for sharing these.
Timmyjoe Posted September 7, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 7, 2014 If I may, Monochrom, B&W film, or desaturated digital? The skin tones are marvelous.
wilfredo Posted September 7, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted September 7, 2014 If I may, Monochrom, B&W film, or desaturated digital? The skin tones are marvelous. MM. If you look at other MM shots on this forum you will find that this camera consistently produces great skin tones. IMHO, the skin tones are often magical without looking artificial. I'm convinced that the MM produces the best B&W skin tones of any form of still photography, analogue or digital.

Totally agree with you. I've noticed that in Adams images as well. A lovely set. And above all love the happiness.....!! You need to cheer up the mother and child though.....! Thanks for sharing. XVarior Posted September 7, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2014 what an amazing set. Stupendous. I tried hard to pick a winner but didn't manage, they are all sinners to my eyes. To capture a person is one thing, to capture his spirit is different story. You got all those beautiful spirits captured and framed Wilfredo. Beautiful. Lee Martin Posted September 7, 2014 Share #13 Posted September 7, 2014 Nice series, I like the DJ and the series of ladies, the "peace" sign just adds a touch and the photo has lovely tones. (I don't think Xavier meant to say that they are all "sinners") Laika was the first dog in space so who knows which he/she was named after.
wilfredo Posted September 7, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted September 7, 2014 Nice series, I like the DJ and the series of ladies, the "peace" sign just adds a touch and the photo has lovely tones. (I don't think Xavier meant to say that they are all "sinners") Laika was the first dog in space so who knows which he/she was named after. It's OK if he meant "sinners" (we are all saints and sinners depending on the day of the week) but I suspect you are right. Here's a shot of Leica, she belongs to the woman in the picture. I posted an earlier photo of these two. When Leica was adopted, the woman was on a road trip, and someone had a Leica camera in the car. They decided Leica would be a good name for the dog. You need to cheer up the mother and child though.....! Thanks for sharing. Here's another shot of the boy before he started fading. He simply became anesthetized by the conversation between the two mothers. LOL Next time you are back in town let's get together. Welcome, dear visitor! It's W. 120th and yes I've settled in. I enjoy it here much more so than Yorkville. This feels more like a neighborhood, as you know since you've lived here for many years. Cheers!
