The elusive butterfly not that easy to catch especially using a Leica R 80mm Summilux on a Nikon 7000 hand holding . I usually pre-focus and use my feet to fine tune my forcing. Even then shot a dozen before I had one I wanted to keep:D

This shots you will notice the white eggs on the leaf to the left of the butterfly. I found it quite interesting that butterflies don't have a mouth they taste with their feet. :D

Hank,

both pictures are excellent. Color and focus with DOF are really fine. I know how it feels with your technique of prefocussing, I do the same. Be happy with your results!

Iduna thanks' I never paid much attention to the butterflies before, but after shooting a few shots and reading up on them I'm impressed. A really interesting insect at that. :)

Hank, all that hard work and patience certainly paid off here. These are great shots of these elusive creatures. I try to catch the Monarchs (with my lens) but never can pin them down as good as these.

Ece

Thank you Ece, i was lucky with this one:D
