tthorne Posted August 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased my first R lens, a 28mm PC Super Angulon. I love it on my A7S with a Novoflex adapter, but I also want to be able to use it on the M240. I am not really into trying out any adapters to save a buck, so I believe that the Leica model and the Novoflex model are likely the best choices. I just wanted to know if any of you out there think one is better than the other for any reason, or if there is one out there that I have not thought of that has it's advantages. mmradman Posted August 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2014 Leica R-M adapter comes with tripod foot as standard while on Novoflex it is future option.
bocaburger Posted August 18, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 18, 2014 New, the Novoflex is selling for around $270 vs $310 for the Leica, the latter includes the tripod foot which from my experience is well worth the $40 price difference if you intend using any physically long and/or heavy lenses that don't have tripod collars. I have the Novoflex, I got it used for $150, and with my 70-210 zoom I would really like to have that collar. I gather there's one for the Novoflex Nex adapters but not sure if it fits the R-M, and anyway it costs $140 so I may as well sell on the Novo and get the Leica. Bill W Posted August 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 18, 2014 I bought the Leica version. I think it is worth the extra few $. Very well built.
tthorne Posted August 19, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks for the feedback guys. Novoflex makes great stuff and I have always had good luck with them, but I am more than happy to stick with the Leica factory gear and am actually surprised it is such a bargain, relatively speaking. erudolph Posted August 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A while back I tried an R-lens on my M, using the Leica R-M adapter. After leaving the store and evaluating the image files I ordered both items. They accidentally shipped me a Novoflex adapter. I wanted the tripod collar so the store and I agreed that when next I was there we'd swap adapters. When I finally made it back there, we did that. Taking the Leica adapter home I found it seemed incredibly tight. I took it back and we tried three different Leica R-M adapters. The three samples seemed to fit with different degrees of tightness. I took the one of the three that seemed best. The Leica adapter is very beautifully made and has the tripod collar. That said, the Novoflex is very well made and worked fine for me.
