scott kirkpatrick Posted May 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 4, 2007 I notice that Leica only lists the 1GB as being compatible (ultra 11 2gb is listed). Does anybody know if the 2G is compatible Regards They work for me. But others have reported issues, which I usually chalk up to some other part of the information chain -- a reader, Mac software, etc. (I'm using PC.) scott

jaapv Posted May 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 4, 2007 Three of them over here- no issues at all. The Leica list is a bit unclear, but it should be read to incude the larger sized extremes as well, I understand

robbegibson Posted May 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 4, 2007 I had always used extremes in the M8 until last week -I tried an ultra. I found the slower speed of the ultra showed many of the issues with displaying the last image instead of the current one, etc. that people have been complaining about. They were barely noticeable with the faster extreme's. Might be my imagination, but the problems do seem to come and go as I switch between cards. OTOH, I haven't seen any advantages except for download speed with the D3. Probably, YMMV. Robbe

stunsworth Posted May 5, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 5, 2007 Andy, given that it's in the M8 forum I think we can safely guess what the 'what' is ;-)

ChrisC Posted May 5, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 5, 2007 And on a related subject - anyone want to offer advice on an accompanying card reader for 2Gb. Extreme III. I'm about to buy these cards, will need to download to a Mac laptop [probably firewire], but probably USB to my principal Power Mac. I'm finding it difficult to get sufficient information. .................Chris
Stevez4 Posted May 5, 2007 Share #16 Posted May 5, 2007 None of our Macs recognize the III Extreme 2GB cards. So we have gone back to Lexar Pros.
ChrisC Posted May 5, 2007 Share #17 Posted May 5, 2007 Steve - Are you suggesting your non-recognition experience is a Mac problem rather than a Reader issue? Your post startled me. .............Chris
stephengilbert Posted May 6, 2007 Share #18 Posted May 6, 2007 I use a Sandisk Extreme USB card reader with no problems using both 2GB Extreme III cards and Lexar Professional cards. They cost about $20: Sandisk Extreme USB 2.0 Card Reader If you've got a laptop with an Expresscard slot, you might try the Belkin Multimedia Reader and Writer Expresscard. It fits in the expresscard slot and just lives there.
