I used to be using Apple Appeture to resize my images and i use to set 950 x 950 and 300 dpi . It worked smoothly from the beginning and suddenly docent work and all the resizing even smaller than the files sizes seems to be larger 317kb than 312kb the allowed size for posting to the forum. Don't know what to do:confused:

Pete,Huh??

change of Pixels Per Inch will have no effect whatsover. Only the maximum number of pixels allowed on the longest side and the file size in kilobytes.

I lazily made an assumption, Geoff, based on considering the amount of data in a photo at 300 dpi compared to one at 1 dpi and the associated jpeg compression algorithms. Happy to be corrected though.:)

Pete.

Hi Pete, I just thought it was worth clarifying for the particular question to help the original poster of course.

Physical size for a print has no effect on a screen image.

I think that the simplest description for people learning about posting images is just to take their original photo and make a JPG copy no larger than 960 pixels on the longest side and then adjust the compression in the save dialogue so that the file size is no larger than 300 kilobytes. 200 kilobytes or so is plenty anyway for many subjects.
