Advertisement Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Hi pgk, Take a look here An odd MDa. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Hiles Posted August 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 4, 2014 Looks like some version of an adapter. It has the red dot suggesting an M bayonet mount, suggesting that this is an LTM to M adapter. However it is different from any other adapter I know of. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted August 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 4, 2014 Another strange fact: The camera obviously got the M4 rewind mechanism but shows a number (app. 1,161,000) much lower than the M4 starting# 1,175,001. LEITZ seem to have changed product details in this special series before the actual M4-series. Another possibility: an early allocation of camera numbers and delivery after the series started. luigi bertolotti Posted August 5, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2014 Anyway, the usual lists do confirm that 1.161.188 is a number allocated within a batch of MDa : probably it has a custom adapter for some lab apparatus... not strange for those cameras; price is rather honest considering that, I think, is a 90% original camera (probably the adapter is normally removable, and the small dent attached to the baseplate looks finely finished) that made its scientific job for years before being discarded. The seller could have given some more info about those two details... but maybe can answer if contacted.
luigi bertolotti Posted August 5, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2014 ... oops...sorry (late night error... ) : the small dent I quoted is indeed a standard accessory (14142) on MDa (as well as MD), to allow the insertion of strips to mark the negative... another evidence of the originality of the item. huubl Posted August 8, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) The "adapter" looks much like the dedicated adapter on M-LTM Summarons and Summicrons.
