Advertisement Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here Noctilux and Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DigitalHeMan Posted September 27, 2014 Share #42 Posted September 27, 2014 You're comparing the left side of one camera to the right side of the other looking at the online dimensions of the body, the only difference is the M240 is 5mm, thicker, but my understanding is that is due to the protruding wheel on the back. Maybe it just feels smaller as the chrome color has magical shrinking powers?
DigitalHeMan Posted September 27, 2014 Share #43 Posted September 27, 2014 The Sultan Abdul Samad Building Kuala Lumpur I shot this picture this morning with my new Leica Monochrom and 50mm Noctilux. The picture was stitched together using 6 pictures and processed in Photoshop. Nice shot would be interesting to play around with it in SFXPro and see if you can pull a bit more detail out of the sky though....

Jeff S Posted September 27, 2014 Share #47 Posted September 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) You're comparing the left side of one camera to the right side of the other looking at the online dimensions of the body, the only difference is the M240 is 5mm, thicker, but my understanding is that is due to the protruding wheel on the back. Maybe it just feels smaller as the chrome color has magical shrinking powers? I assume he's just joking, as the cameras are obviously facing in opposite directions, distorting any comparison. If one simply puts bottom plate to bottom plate, or top to top, there is minimal difference in body size. I've done it with the M and the M8.2, which is virtually the same size as the M9. (The oft quoted disparity of 5mm is mostly attributable to the thumb rest protrusion.) I think the added weight, and perhaps different grip, fool people. This has been discussed exhaustively elsewhere. Jeff Edit…Not joking! Neil, you're a hoot.

Mutton Deaf.............to be honest I didn't even notice that they were facing opposite directions and I am sure you are correct with the actual dimensions but in my hands they feel very different in size............just an observation I noticed when taking the MM out of the box

platypus Posted September 28, 2014 Share #51 Posted September 28, 2014 Mutton Deaf.............to be honest I didn't even notice that they were facing opposite directions and I am sure you are correct with the actual dimensions but in my hands they feel very different in size............just an observation I noticed when taking the MM out of the box To obtain an absolutely accurate result when measuring anything in this way you need to allow for the fact that your hands are almost certainly different sizes. Assuming you are right handed and are employed in work of a manual nature your right hand will have developed commensurably. Try holding the M240 in your left hand next time. Jeff S Posted September 28, 2014 Share #52 Posted September 28, 2014 Learnt it from you best pal:D No need for me to divert conversation when your inadvertent entertainment is the gift that keeps on giving. But I'll be happy to teach you the difference between left and right; might come in handy with a hobby that requires some visual acumen. We'll go slowly before exploding your brain with large format ground glass viewing. Jeff
