Jimmykjimmy Posted September 13, 2014 Share #61 Posted September 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don´t have a backup but rather a complement to my Leica M240. The RX1 complements my 50 Summilux Asph and 21 Elmarit Pre Asph perfect just in between. adding a close focus ability and the leaf-shutter that the M240 just cant deliver. On top or this the 35 on the RX1 would work as a backup if the M240 gave up during a trip due to the forgiving focal length. I did own a A7r earlier however did not like the shutter on that one. One thing that I cant get of my mind is the A7s... it is very apealing to get that ISO-performance but do I realy need it? Probably not' date=' on the other hand do I realy need the M240 and RX1 no. I could probably do with just a RX100 or equivalent. On the other hand both of the cameras I own now makes me want to take more photos.[/quote'] RX 1 here as a backup, works great, battery life could be better . Advertisement Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Hi Jimmykjimmy, Take a look here What to use as a back-up to the M240?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted September 14, 2014 Share #62 Posted September 14, 2014 My back up is a Leica Monochrom................shoot color with the M and shoot B&W with the MMNo Brainer Similar, but it's more that my M240 is my Monochrom backup. However, we should be aware that we are lucky that we can afford to own two such cameras at the same time. I am looking at buying something very pocketable in the future such as a son-of-RX1 with faster 35mm lens, curved sensor, and perhaps monochrome (oh, and a spare battery). chris_tribble Posted September 14, 2014 Share #63 Posted September 14, 2014 Save up and get a second M. It takes a lot to beat working with two matched bodies if you're doing something complicated - so having two bodies EXTENDS your range. AND you get a back up for either camera if there are issues. Touch wood, apart from a minor battery issue I've had no problems with either of mine - but I do have the backups too.
