pbraude Posted July 16, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been playing around with my new T and noticed that Auto White Balance behaves very differently on an 18-56mm T lens as compared to a 35mm 2.0 Summicron that I have. The white balance on the T lens is top notch, but the 'cron is always off and I keep having to make significant corrections in Lightroom. Has anyone else experienced the same issue or lack thereof? I'm attaching a straight out-of-the-camera files using both lenses. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated. Welcome, dear visitor! barjohn Posted July 17, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2014 You wouldn't have different filters in front of the lens would you? On DNGs it could be that there are color corrections applied based on the lens characteristics and that information isn't supplied with M lenses. The point about color correction is interesting, although I would have thought the level of correction based on the lens characteristics should be incremental, not as drastic as what I'm seeing... richfx Posted July 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2014 Lenses don't have anything to do with white balance. The camera, its sofftware and sensor control WB. Rich
Fotograph Posted July 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 17, 2014 I had the same problem, also wB changed when I changed aperture on my M lens That's why, and because of the often misfeature of the dials I gave it back and bought X Vario. The body of the T is maybe fine polished..... But the rest ..... it's just crap..... And nobody by Leica says something about the quality of the camera or optics, only about design and feeling of the body - interesting why...... elasticrat Posted August 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 26, 2014 I can confirm that the white balance for interiors with M lenses is always off on the T.
