Advertisement Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hi stuny, Take a look here I didn't know beavers lived in flowing water (3 photos). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted June 26, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2014 It might be flowing water now but by the time he and his friends get done it will be a pond or lake. Nice shots. Did he give you a tail slap when he dove?
wildlightphoto Posted June 26, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2014 They live in the American River here in the Sacramento area.

mrware Posted June 27, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 27, 2014 Indeed they do. They like to build dams on creeks and small tributaries and have their lodge in the deep water they create. Sometimes the beavers plans differ with that of the Dept of Natural Resources and the dams are blown up to get the water flowing again. Often times the dam will quickly be rebuilt. I have a lake about 1/4 mile from my house and the beavers have been taking down the trees along the shore, but have not shot any photos of them. They are camera shy creatures. stuny Posted June 27, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted June 27, 2014 Iduna, James, Tom, Brent, Doug, Bill, Ryan, Paul & John - Thank you. Unfortunatley he did not do a tail slap -- I suppose he didn't feel the need to warn other beavers - He was the only one we saw. This is on the Colorado River, between Glenn Canyon Dam and Lee's Ferry, a 20 mile stretch of open, flat water with stiff currents.
