I love my 28mm summilux

Well I have my standard, low light, and compact lens kits but not lens colour kits as they're all black.

Hmm..and I thought I had my quirks .

Mark, once I handled a few chrome lenses, I was addicted. Especially the 50LuxASPH on my chrome M240

Only in cases where the weight (ex: 90 cron E55) or cost (ex: chrome 28cron for €6000, chrome Nocti 0.95 for €15000) become unwarranted for my everyday needs have I kept my black versions

I tend to use my lenses on a body/sensor combo that results in images that appeal the most to me

Ex:

M9+SE21/3.4+35FLE+ZM50/1.5+50APO+75Lux+Cron90E55

MM+15/4.5+SA21/3.4+28cron+35/1.5+Nocti 50f1+50/1.2+Xenon50/1.5+Summitar50/2+VC75/2.5+73/1.9+Summarex85/1.5+Elmarit90/2.8+100/3.5

M240+18/3.8+24/3.8+50LuxASPH+Nocti50/0.95+Elmar50/2.8+APO75cron+APO90cron

I do swap lenses on other bodies but this is my typical preference, for no particular reason except that the resulting images are how I like them to be

Open question for me is: for my taste, on which body will the 28Lux fit best?

Now, this is what you can call a First World problem! ;)

I come from a "third world country" and studied and worked my ass off to get to where I am today

Who decided where the person is born and who decided the geographical boundaries?

What about all the wealth looted by the "first world countries" from the "third world countries" for many many years to grow prosperous?

I know your comment was light hearted but the implications behind it are not so trivial

I think it is a 'first world' problem - the comment does not reflect adversely on '2nd or 3rd world' countries but instead on our wealthy material 'first world' where we can afford to have such discussions about the colour our Leica lenses :).

This is what it's all about:

Maybe the definition of "first world" has changed to "currently economically strong" then. Most of the "first world" economies collapsed just a few months ago

The Chinese, the Russians and the Indians are buying up companies, not just lenses in chrome finish or black finish and these countries do not fall in the "first world" category

Now we can talk about the economic stratification and distribution of wealth amongst the populace in these countries but I don't think we're talking about the average middle class in the "first world" countries who can afford a few digital Leica bodies and many lenses from the current generation?

Lovely video, so true

Take a look at this ->

Is this why all your shots seem to take place in your backyard? So many lenses, so little imagination. This, too, is a first world problem, imo. Too much stuff and not much to do with it... A bit sad.

I like my chrome 50 Summilux ASPH, and Summitar 50/2. If the 28 Summilux is available in chrome, I will seriously consider it.

Can't tell you why, but I like the look of chrome - maybe it just harks back to my childhood.

Didn´d read all the posts of this 28mm-SUMMILUX thread, but I am more interested

in the look my photos will get from the lens than of the lens ...

Best

Very true, but until the lens is available, there's not much to say, really.

Yes, certainly, and it´s good for the company. O. Barnack didn´t bother too much in this respect in the old days.

He used nickel lenses on black bodies and didn´t wait for black lenses to take his photographs.

Or was it vice versa?

Luckily we have a choice

What will you get? Black? Chrome? Both? None?
