Yes, the real Hans Mezger has/had a rather better track record in car engine design.
Advertisement Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Hi marknorton, Take a look here New evf for the M240. Coming.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ecaton Posted June 25, 2014 Share #42 Posted June 25, 2014 Given the time scale Leica and Olympus must have been shopping at approximately the same time. Let`s agree that you have probably fixed as many teeth as I have negotiated manufacturing deals or done cost analysis and that sometimes throwing the towel is the most gracious way to exit ...... timde Posted June 25, 2014 Share #43 Posted June 25, 2014 I fear there will never be enough horsepower under the bonnet to run a higher resolution EVF. With a more powerful processor in an uprated M .... maybe ...... but then that would be a new camera ..... What if they released a M240P at Photokina? Did an upgrade on the processor speed and took the EVF and related interface from the T.
mjh Posted June 25, 2014 Share #44 Posted June 25, 2014 What if they released a M240P at Photokina? Did an upgrade on the processor speed and took the EVF and related interface from the T. If they did release an M-P it would be for the M what the M9-P was for the M9. There wouldn’t be any significant hardware upgrades like a new CPU or a revamped interface. jaapv Posted June 25, 2014 Share #45 Posted June 25, 2014 What if they released a M240P at Photokina? Did an upgrade on the processor speed and took the EVF and related interface from the T. Not unlikely, but just a facelift.

As it is totally unclear to me what the heck we are arguing about, nor what our respective professions have to do with cameras, I have an 180 degree uncertainty in which direction to throw anything, let alone towels. magosak Posted June 26, 2014 Share #47 Posted June 26, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not unlikely, but just a facelift. I am about to pull the trigger on a silver chrome M, but I'd rather wait to have the M-P if there is any chance of this happening.

Buy the camera. The upgrade usually costs roughly the difference.
hansmezger Posted June 26, 2014 Author Share #49 Posted June 26, 2014 The poster's score is 0 for 1 thus far... auto ISO is coming post in December 2013. Dear John, I was one of the first ones complaining about this issue, while some of you were happy taking pictures of your house pets... Sorry to being rude. I was calling the factory nearly every single day. Even the officials weren't aware about this issue. It took a long time for Leica to develop the software. But at that time these words came from top Officials from Leica and I had to share it all with friends that felt the same way as I did. So I will keep my mouth shut till June 30th. When the Embargo date ends for the new software.
jaapv Posted June 26, 2014 Share #50 Posted June 26, 2014 We'll, that would be an interesting development.
tookaphotoof Posted June 26, 2014 Share #51 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm actually one of those people that take pictures of things that mean something to me in my life, while some only take pictures of strangers and seem to find joy in bothering Leica... If a new EVF will be introduced for the M240 it better be able to let me critical focus with everything below 35mm as otherwise I will be terribly disappointed. Guest odeon Posted June 26, 2014 Share #52 Posted June 26, 2014 The waiting is the best way to see the truth. But, if Hans is right, I invite some users in this thread to apologize from him.
bocaburger Posted June 26, 2014 Share #53 Posted June 26, 2014 Leica is a generation behind the leaders in the the electronic hardware and has relied on the RF, super image quality and unbeatable legacy lenses as a unique selling point ...... .... next time round I don't think anyone will put up with low FPS, slow power up, screen refresh, low res EVF or EVF lag .... so they will have to be as good or better than the competition ...... I suppose there could be a first time for everything
gpwhite Posted June 26, 2014 Share #54 Posted June 26, 2014 Cold water shower. Totally unconfirmed rumour. But Jaap, didn't they say that when Cristo Columbus sent his first pigeon report in?
Jennifer Posted June 26, 2014 Share #55 Posted June 26, 2014 Reading between the lines, though accepted my information might well be wrong, I don't think we're going to get a new EVF with this FW update. What does seem to be in the pipeline, however, is a possible minor model tweak for Photokina, and a slimmed down (think M6/7) much higher spec. successor to the M240 next year. Apparently, and I quote, "the Leica road map for the next few years looks very exciting"
bocaburger Posted June 26, 2014 Share #56 Posted June 26, 2014 Thinning down the body seems to hint at a touchscreen interface without any wheels or buttons. Because the distance from the lens flange to sensor plane is set in stone, it's only what's behind the sensor that could be slimmed down. Higher spec, well that's kind of a given. The megapixel race is still on in the digital camera world.

So I will keep my mouth shut till June 30th. When the Embargo date ends for the new software. Judging from how often discussion of Auto ISO centers on minimum and maximum shutter speeds and not on the fact that it should work with manually-selected shutter speeds, I'm still not sure everyone's even aware of the problem now. timde Posted June 26, 2014 Share #58 Posted June 26, 2014 If they did release an M-P it would be for the M what the M9-P was for the M9. There wouldn’t be any significant hardware upgrades like a new CPU or a revamped interface. Perhaps so, unfortunately I think that means no higher res EVF as this seems to be a limitation of the hardware.
Mr. Thompson Posted June 26, 2014 Share #59 Posted June 26, 2014 It is inevitable that there will be a new EVF released at Photokina. I just bought the current version. Same here. Now we have two witnesses.
bephoto Posted June 26, 2014 Share #60 Posted June 26, 2014 Obviously the delay in the new firmware is due to sorting out the upgrade to VF4! Because there is NOTHING wrong with M's firmware! I see rotten eggs and tomatoes flying at me!!!
