M9 - original FF M-camera

M9P - Upgraded rear LCD covering (better scratch resistance), change of grip material, black leica logo, new color option, Leica etching on the top plate.

M-E - M9(P) were discontinued, replaced with ME. No more USB port on the side of the camera, no frame line selector lever. New color (anthracite grey), no etching on the top, serial # on the hot shoe. Price drop.

They all use the same internals, sensor, etc..

If you tend towards a black camera, there isn't difference between M9 and M9P... but if you (like me) do prefer the silver/chrome bodies, the M9 has a someway odd tone of silver... much less "classic" than M9P (and M 240) ... of course, just a matter of taste... but is not so well "coupled" with the chrome lenses... :o

It's steel gray. My previous X1 also had this color. I quite like it. As mentioned, differences are mainly cosmetic and will not affect the results in any way. I would tend to go on condition and price.

Hrm.. my mistake, they removed it completely on the M9P.. I thought there was a digital M body with an actual black logo.. maybe I just imagined it.

That was the M8.2.
