Mixalis Posted May 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) During the week I was fortunate enough to be at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, near London, for one of the rare outings of the 24-litre Napier-Railton race car. Commissioned by John Cobb and designed by Reid Railton, the legendary vehicle was built at Brooklands by Thomson & Taylor in 1933. Brooklands itself, the first banked race track and the first dedicated race track in the world, was opened in 1907. This contemporary Pratt's fuel pump is now a working museum exhibit.. Mixalis Posted May 28, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted May 28, 2014 Thanks John. It beats a Ford Focus any day. Sadly, more challenging to drive and you need to keep a fire extinguisher handy at all times. It was ever an unpredictable beast. Mike

Mixalis Posted June 8, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted June 8, 2014 Superb images Mike. Did you ever take any film images of the Napier Railton? Cheers dunk Thanks, Dunk. I didn't have a film camera with me, which was a great pity. However, I did a couple of (very amateurish) videos with the M. Video is not my forte and I think that was the first time I had pressed that silver button next to the shutter release in anger. I used to wonder what it was for. We should organise a forum trip to Brooklands because there is always lots to see, including cars, motorcycles, aircraft (a Concorde no less), bombs (including the Dam Buster itself) and a bus museum. I was referring to your Agfa film camera period. Maybe TLS could consider a GTG at Brooklands - I'll make enquiries. Best wishes dunk
