Advertisement Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Hi enboe, Take a look here So, who's exchanging black MM for silver?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted May 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2014 Anyone out there considering buying the silver chrome MM and liquidating their black chrome model? Just curious. Took a close look at it today at Wetzlar and decided to keep the black MM A chrome 21 Lux and a chrome 75 Lux (forgetting the weight aspect) would have me hooked though
james.liam Posted May 24, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2014 I'd sooner save my pfennig for an M230 Monochrom.
dant Posted May 26, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 26, 2014 NO, I like black bodies for everything I own.
tobey bilek Posted May 26, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 26, 2014 So what difference does it make? So is silver better? So is black better? So is this a beauty contest? So does your silver lens look good on black?
IkarusJohn Posted May 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 26, 2014 Silver bodies take better pictures - everyone knows that!
Knorp Posted May 26, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 26, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Who knows the silver will inherit the improved rangefinder from the M (type 240) ...
jcraf Posted May 26, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 26, 2014 Nope. Love my black MM. Have my MP for my silver chrome fix.
hiro Posted May 26, 2014 Share #9 Posted May 26, 2014 Back in the days, my chrome M6 weighed significantly more than black M6. I don't know what caused the difference or if this applies to MM also today.
Jeff S Posted May 26, 2014 Share #10 Posted May 26, 2014 Who knows the silver will inherit the improved rangefinder from the M (type 240) ... Nope…both the silver and stainless versions are the same as the current black MM other than finish. And the rumored M230 is merely the name for the stainless version. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/2014/05/leica-m-monochrom-type-230-leica-m-monochrom-silver-chrome/ Jeff
ldhrads Posted May 27, 2014 Share #11 Posted May 27, 2014 I prefer black bodies, that said, I really have to take a good at which camera I'm picking up today since my MM and M9-p look so similar at first glance and the shelf that they live on doesn't allow for easy top plate viewing! It would be easier if one were silver, but no, I don't plan on changing.
Jeff S Posted May 28, 2014 Share #12 Posted May 28, 2014 I wonder if Leica will announce a cost to convert, much like they did with the M9-P. Perhaps the limited production will preclude such a program. Jeff

Perhaps the limited production will preclude such a program. Jeff For a modest $8k upgrade fee, I'm certain Wetzlar will allow you to do so.

Jeff S Posted May 29, 2014 Share #15 Posted May 29, 2014 I don't own the MM; just curious if Leica might offer an 'upgrade' route like they did for folks wanting to go from M9 to M9-P….that's all. Jeff
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 29, 2014 Share #16 Posted July 29, 2014 So what difference does it make? So is silver better? So is black better? So is this a beauty contest? I makes a huge differance if you have a red 1/2 case and use a Gitzu Tripod......................get a grip man:D
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 29, 2014 Share #17 Posted July 29, 2014 Silver bodies take better pictures - everyone knows that!Correct and they also have the 3.15 processor so a silver one is a no brainer
MarkP Posted July 29, 2014 Share #18 Posted July 29, 2014 I'll keep my black Monochrom thanks.

jonogilmour Posted July 29, 2014 Share #20 Posted July 29, 2014 I doubt that a camera designed for absolute discreetness would fare better in reflective silver.
