farnz Posted May 27, 2014 Share #21 Posted May 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, FrozeninTime, I've seen these advertised before in a number of outlets in the UK but they always seem to be permanently on back order. When I said "available" perhaps I should have said "obtainable". I've dealt with Tony Rose at Popflash on a number of occasions and he's been very good so I'll try him again. The problem I have with ordering from the US of course is the addition of 20% VAT at my end on an already very expensive filter. Thanks for trying to help. Pete. Update: on the off-chance I rang Teamwork Photo in London and they had one 60 mm Heliopan VarioND in stock. I bought it on the spot in mid-afternoon and it plopped onto my doormat the next morning. That's what I call excellent service. (I've tried Teamwork Photo several times previously but they don't list the 60mm size on their website and didn't expect to be able to obtain one. Wonders never cease.) Pete.

rramesh Posted June 2, 2014 Share #27 Posted June 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My first shot with my new ND filter, what do you think?. Wonderful rendition of the various shades of darkness. Does prove one thing though. Your lens does not leak light.

Herr Barnack Posted June 5, 2014 Share #29 Posted June 5, 2014 I use a 3 stop or a 6 stop ND filter with my f/1.0 Noctilux (separately, not together) depending on the light I'm shooting in during the daytime hours. Outdoors shots during daylight hours almost always demand one or the other. B+W filters are generally regarded as the best with Heliopan a close second. I have Heliopan UV filters for my 28/2 and 90/2 and use them as needed for lens protection. I can't see how there could be much difference between B+W and Heliopan, as both companies build their filters using brass rings and Schott glass. If a B+W filter I need is available, I will buy it, but if not I will get the Heliopan equivalent and not lose sleep over the image quality difference - if indeed there is one. sblutter Posted June 19, 2014 Share #32 Posted June 19, 2014 Polarizing filter also useful as an ND. About 1.5 stops. In daylight always have that + 4 & 8 stops in my pocket Boka!
