Herr Barnack Posted May 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have noticed something odd about the M240. When I go into the menu to manually select my non-six bit coded 50mm Summilux, the model number for my lens is not listed. The menu lists 50 Summilux model #s 11868, 11856 and 11114 only. My Summilux is #11623; it is the last pre-ASPH 50 Summilux (purchased in 2003) with black paint and the scalloped focusing ring (no focusing "tab"). This was the lens that was sold as a package with my MP when I bought it from Tamarkin - one of the premier Leica dealers, then located in New York City (in other words, I did not buy the lens out of some shifty guy's car trunk in Jersey City or Hong Kong). My other non-coded lenses are listed in the menu for manual selection, but not my Summilux 50. What gives??

My other non-coded lenses are listed in the menu for manual selection, but not my Summilux 50. What gives?? That listing works as well as the next one down the list. If you sent the lens off to be six bit coded it would come back with the coding for that menu choice.
swamiji Posted May 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 4, 2014 Well, my 50mm Summicron is not on the list and can't be 6-bit coded... That's the way it goes. Leica just said to pick the closest one on the list... Now I don't bother, it still produces great pictures.

Herr Barnack Posted May 4, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted May 4, 2014 There is no optical difference between the "Millenium" 11623 and the regular 11868. That is what I suspected, but I was not 100% certain. Thanks for the clarification.
