ananda Posted April 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here we have my black M with RRS baseplate and L bracket, to which is attached an RRS clamp made specifically for a strap. Now I like this a lot because I can quickly remove the strap if I like by removing the clamp from the L bracket, and I also like the way I can sling strap over a shoulder or around the neck and the way the camera hangs vertically. Everyone has different ideas about this matter of accessories, but this soution works great for me and I do love Really Right Stuff stuff. Welcome, dear visitor! algrove Posted April 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2014 Would be better for me if the knob were pointed to the outside so as not to dig into me.

I really agree that RRS makes great accessories, and extremely useful, even if you only use a tripod 10% of the time. I would send this on to RRS and perhaps make the suggestion so the strap connections be wider.
DigitalHeMan Posted April 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2014 Doesn't the white knob catch on your nose when you are shooting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bill W Posted April 27, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2014 Each to their own but it would not work for me. I never have a need for the strap to be off the camera.
ananda Posted April 27, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted April 27, 2014 The knob is actually a great grip for the camera. Very secure and steadying. And no, it does not get in my nose...
darylgo Posted April 27, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is a workaround to using strap lugs, something always in the back of my mind since introduction of the M issue. Thanks for posting this.

Do you stick the knob in your mouth (so to speak) when holding the camera vertically? Steve

aesop Posted April 28, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 28, 2014 ...I honestly thought one of the major draws of the M system was size.
jip Posted April 28, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 28, 2014 ...I honestly thought one of the major draws of the M system was size. It is and on this pic, it's still small doesn't add that much bulk I'd say... still loads smaller than a Canon 5D with some random lens.
ananda Posted April 30, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted April 30, 2014 Nothing beats that knob and mount as an item to hold and steady the camera with whether it's up to the eye or just held in the hand. People who think this arrangement is odd clearly have not tried it.
jeff_m Posted May 1, 2014 Share #13 Posted May 1, 2014 Tried this setup at RRS in San Luis Obispo and the knob always caught on our bags. Granted bag is perfect fit for camera, slightly larger bag and might like it.
