I´ll be so "stressed": which one to use???? So I am seriously thinking of getting rid of X2. Years ago I used Canon bodies and number of heavy (and expensive) lenses - which I mostly carried around and almost never changed! One should never say never but I am pretty sure that X Vario will be my ONE and ONLY camera in the forseable future. stuny Posted April 18, 2014 Share #23 Posted April 18, 2014 I've never had problems with selecting between two cameras in the same bag since I usually had different focal length lenses on each, and/or different purposes for the cameras. However, I am done with traveling with big, heavy kit. I have six cameras, and since Barbara gave me my V Lux 4 16 months ago I've used only it except for a few D2 photos in a special situation that required its stealth, and a SCUBA holidays in which I used the V Lux terrestrially, and the underwater camera when diving. Since buying the X Vario my X1 has seen even more use. The high ISO experience with the XV has encouraged me to use the X1 a little more using a similar exposure technique. But they rarely go out together. The X1 comes into its own when photographaphy is not top of the agenda; its compactness allows secretion in a pocket for emergencies or random unexpected photographic opportunities. At this stage whilst I do not expect many XV owners to sell their cameras for a T I would expect that some M8/M9 users might be tempted t sell before their cameras become obsolete. The T package however is extremely interesting, although I normally don't like touchscreens too much. In 3-4 years when my XV might become obsolete the T successor could definitely make the running. Check the LUF classifieds (digital cameras) for a cheap, almost new, X Vario. I'm selling mine, but not for a T, for my M240 that arrives today. The main lens I would use would be the mid range zoom (I only use primes on FF) so it would be substituting the x-vario for the T at a large cost premium with the same IQ but no dials. The optics - zoom - more or less so. Ergonomics? Very questionable - prefer dials to smartphone excercises. Image quality - probably the same. The only "gain" - removable glass IF you need it! I do NOT! Economy? No contest here. T is much more expensive. All in all I find it hard to justify getting the new toy - unless the money is no object! But I must admit that T is a real designer-beauty, probably a huge commercial hit or, maybe ..... an even bigger financial flop than X Vario. Thanks God I´ve got one. I've been waiting to see what the T would be all about, but I now know there will be no changes to my kit as well. I used to have loads of heavy DSLR gear (Canon 5D nucleus) that I lugged all over in a backpack. I started to find myself resenting my hobby, because I would obsess about which lenses to bring on trips, to the pub, etc. In addition, I would then struggle to lug around all this stuff that would actually hinder my ability to relax and have fun. I'm a minimalist in so many ways, yet it took me some time to figure out that I needed to downsize my gear. Luckily, there are so many new options out there that enable me to travel light and really enjoy photography again. So, I'm in no mood to start collecting expensive lenses again...especially when I've got both of these lenses already covered. We go to Europe every year, and I truly love the travel compatibility of my X Vario and my Sony RX1. One covers the zoom range quite well, with that Leica glow, and the other is a low light/full-frame marvel! Both are great for anything thrown at me...AND, I don't have to ever swap out a lens.
