Guest DrPix Posted April 17, 2014 Share #21  Posted April 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Absolutely! Couldn´t agree more! I can´t even have TWO cameras - right now X Vario and X2. I´ll be so "stressed": which one to use???? So I am seriously thinking of getting rid of X2. Years ago I used Canon bodies and number of heavy (and expensive) lenses - which I mostly carried around and almost never changed! One should never say never but I am pretty sure that X Vario will be my ONE and ONLY camera in the forseable future. Advertisement Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Hi Guest DrPix, Take a look here How many will sell theirX-Vario to buy a newT?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guytou Posted April 17, 2014 Share #22  Posted April 17, 2014 I am completely of agreement ! I had in the past much equipment. One of the last was Nikon F5 with 7 or 8 top-of-the-range optics. My Nikkor 2,8/35-70 was on the device during 95% of time…  To have two devices in the bag is also very difficult for me and that is like a brake for spontaneousness and creation…  Guy
stuny Posted April 18, 2014 Share #23 Â Posted April 18, 2014 I've never had problems with selecting between two cameras in the same bag since I usually had different focal length lenses on each, and/or different purposes for the cameras. However, I am done with traveling with big, heavy kit. I have six cameras, and since Barbara gave me my V Lux 4 16 months ago I've used only it except for a few D2 photos in a special situation that required its stealth, and a SCUBA holidays in which I used the V Lux terrestrially, and the underwater camera when diving. Â I've tried the X Vario for a few hours and like it a great deal, but not enough to displace any of my other cameras.

Since buying the X Vario my X1 has seen even more use. The high ISO experience with the XV has encouraged me to use the X1 a little more using a similar exposure technique. But they rarely go out together. The X1 comes into its own when photographaphy is not top of the agenda; its compactness allows secretion in a pocket for emergencies or random unexpected photographic opportunities. !Nomad64 Posted April 24, 2014 Share #25 Â Posted April 24, 2014 Will many plan to sell the XV to purchase a new T? Do you expect it to fix some of the issues with the XV? Â At this stage whilst I do not expect many XV owners to sell their cameras for a T I would expect that some M8/M9 users might be tempted t sell before their cameras become obsolete. Â Cheers, Bruno
Kloss Posted April 25, 2014 Share #26  Posted April 25, 2014 ... I would expect that some M8/M9 users might be tempted t sell before their cameras become obsolete.  I don't think this will happen. Totally different concepts. M8/M9/M-E are RF Cameras, T is not. Maybe T as a backup for M but rather not a replacement to my opinion. Thomas
XVarior Posted April 25, 2014 Share #27 Â Posted April 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not here. XV is superior in many aspect that to me mean a lost more than WiFi and touch screen.
Phil75 Posted April 25, 2014 Share #28 Â Posted April 25, 2014 I won't sell. But I consider buying a smaller cam additionally, probably a X2 at runout phase. Â The T package however is extremely interesting, although I normally don't like touchscreens too much. In 3-4 years when my XV might become obsolete the T successor could definitely make the running.
Rosebud55 Posted April 25, 2014 Share #29 Â Posted April 25, 2014 I am so tempted to buy the T, only because I like it so much, having handled it :-) However, common sense must prevail as I have the xvario and dlux6 plus fuji so I have too many cameras which I enjoy using. Maybe I can talk my husband into buying one for his M lenses??!

Normally it's the husbands that must either sneak in or justify their new gear before the wives. You are instead luring your husband into temptation... HeinzX Posted April 26, 2014 Share #31 Â Posted April 26, 2014 I own no X Vario (own a M 240 and a D-LUX 6) but perhaps I will buy a second hand one if it was in very good condition and at a very attractive price. Would I however own one and have bought it new, I would not sell it for a T. What I would do, is to wait for a new type of X or X2 with exchangable lenses of the T format. And I am pretty sure, that things like that will come. I cannot imagine, that a new series of lenses will be only produced for only one camera. Guest DrPix Posted April 26, 2014 Share #32 Â Posted April 26, 2014 I own a smart phone and X Vario. Why should I ever want a T? Only if I could use it also as a phone? Who knows what T Mark II might be:) I fully understand that Leica is desperately seeking new "rich kids" - for this market the T must be a HIT! Long live 100 dials! colonel Posted April 28, 2014 Share #35 Â Posted April 28, 2014 The more I think about it, the more I think I'll pass on the T for now. The main lens I would use would be the mid range zoom (I only use primes on FF) so it would be substituting the x-vario for the T at a large cost premium with the same IQ but no dials. Â I think I will pass on shiny shiny for now as the x vario meets my needs better I think
Rosebud55 Posted April 28, 2014 Share #36 Â Posted April 28, 2014 Selling your gear is not an option? Â No, I am quite happy with the xvario it's a great travel camera for me. I've only had it a few months anyway so far too soon to change :-)
Guest DrPix Posted April 28, 2014 Share #37  Posted April 28, 2014 If you are an old dinosaur, like yours truly, what have you got to gain by getting a T? The sensor is the same! The optics - zoom - more or less so. Ergonomics? Very questionable - prefer dials to smartphone excercises. Image quality - probably the same. The only "gain" - removable glass IF you need it! I do NOT! Economy? No contest here. T is much more expensive. All in all I find it hard to justify getting the new toy - unless the money is no object! But I must admit that T is a real designer-beauty, probably a huge commercial hit or, maybe ..... an even bigger financial flop than X Vario. Thanks God I´ve got one. jim sink Posted April 28, 2014 Share #38 Â Posted April 28, 2014 I bought my X Vario the day before the "T" was announced. No regrets. I figure I have a 28,35,50,70mm lens with the X Vario. I had a M9 and got tired of buying multiple lens. I feel like I have everything in one package now. Not even considering the "T" in my bag.
Schluet Posted April 29, 2014 Share #39 Â Posted April 29, 2014 Hello, all! Â Very interesting thread/question, as it has converted me from reader to contributor. Â I've been waiting to see what the T would be all about, but I now know there will be no changes to my kit as well. I used to have loads of heavy DSLR gear (Canon 5D nucleus) that I lugged all over in a backpack. I started to find myself resenting my hobby, because I would obsess about which lenses to bring on trips, to the pub, etc. In addition, I would then struggle to lug around all this stuff that would actually hinder my ability to relax and have fun. Â I'm a minimalist in so many ways, yet it took me some time to figure out that I needed to downsize my gear. Luckily, there are so many new options out there that enable me to travel light and really enjoy photography again. So, I'm in no mood to start collecting expensive lenses again...especially when I've got both of these lenses already covered. Â We go to Europe every year, and I truly love the travel compatibility of my X Vario and my Sony RX1. One covers the zoom range quite well, with that Leica glow, and the other is a low light/full-frame marvel! Both are great for anything thrown at me...AND, I don't have to ever swap out a lens. I just grab one from my satchel and SHOOT! Â Prost! Â Schluet
