Walking to the hotel after dinner in June of last year in Bridgeport, CA, we spotted this stoic looking youngster, probably wondering how to get back to the nest, much higher up in the same tree, because I don't think he was quite ready for flight yet.

 

V-Lux-4 zoomed to about 400mm equivalent, if I recall.

Beautiful subject, beautiful photo. Maybe it would be stronger still with a bit of cropping on the top, right and bottom, perhaps like this:

Very nice photo! I think the bird in your picture is an adult. This photo (below) is an immature Great Horned Owl, fully capable of flight (and photographed with Leica equipment):

These are both truly beautiful shots and probably lucky captures. I am very partial to owls and we are fortunate enough to have a good assortment in our "neck of the woods",

however they are very seldom (if ever) seen during the day. We only know they exist due to their haunting calls at night or the protests of an unlucky rabbit being whisked away.
