dfe Posted March 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Apologies if this has already been covered in a previous thread: I just purchased a new M 240 from B&H, and was surprised to find that some of the white paint is missing from several shutter speed indicators. That's a bit disappointing, to say the least. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I'm also wondering what the impact will be on the resale value of the camera, should I decide to sell it? Please feel free to direct me to another thread where this has been covered... I've seen posts about paint flaking off, but I haven't been able to find anything about new cameras with missing paint. I'm really surprised this thing could leave the Leica factory with missing paint.

Torgian Posted March 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2014 RMA time! You must have gotten a "Friday" model. Someone in QA was in a hurry for some beer and brats.
MarkP Posted March 21, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2014 Take it back straight away and ask for another unit.
pico Posted March 21, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 21, 2014 Although the defect is not a deal breaker, and you could fix it yourself, I'd recommend you send it back to rub the oversight in Leica's face. It is not excusable.
jaapv Posted March 21, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 21, 2014 I’d just note it in a (registered) letter to the dealer and have Leica fix it whenever it suits you. It is no big deal and you do have a two year guaranty. Although Leica normally fixes things like this free of charge anyway.
r7photo Posted March 22, 2014 Share #7 Posted March 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I purchased my m9, I called my dealer who contacted Leica for me as my m9, white paint was peeling off, m9 loco and shutter Speed dial and made in Germany , leica asked me to send my camera back to dealer who sent to Germany, and they fixed camera by replacing top plate, they also calibrated and adjusted cam, great service from my dealer , took week to fix , but no other issues, I believe it was bad paint or quality control but my dealer took care if me, initially requested new cam but, replacing top plate was fair, thinking back , I have since purchased m9p, then Crome 240. as in back of my mine, this may happen on black cams. For me leica had to fix as one of reasons for me getting leica was pristine looks, so I suggest contacting your dealer Hope my story helps Ron
dante Posted March 27, 2014 Share #8 Posted March 27, 2014 My INFO button has lost its black paint. I imagine it's just engraving enamel. Dante
