John Z. Goriup Posted March 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 18, 2014 I've always considered the 75 Summilux is one of Leica's finest optics ever…..a very special lens. The overall composition with the razor-sharp flower in the extreme lower right-hand corner 'makes' this shot. Beautiful and well done. JZG
Iduna Posted March 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 18, 2014 Dee, you were lucky to get this shot. I know this is very tricky. But due to the superb lens wide open you could freeze the blossoms and get focus precisely where it should be. I suppose you did perhaps a series and chose this one? pauledell Posted March 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 18, 2014 Dee, Outstanding picture with the composition, the background that accentuates the flowers, the gorgeous colors and the sharpness. Paul

allamande Posted March 19, 2014 Share #9 Posted March 19, 2014 Dee, This worked out beautifully. It is like a scroll, urging the eye to move from one side to the other. Goregous colors against that dark background. Ece
platypus Posted March 19, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted March 19, 2014 Thanks everyone for your positive comments. The way the 75 Summilux handles light is just magical and it is so sharp without being harsh. It is such a joy! Iduna, I took three shots of these flowers but this one is actually the first shot, the light was so lovely and I knew the background would be very dark.... but the wind was so strong nothing would stay still for focussing. I thought I was wasting my time, but I always take three of everything, anyway the focus worked and at f1.4 the shutter speed was 4000 (no ND filter) so it stopped them dead. Just shear luck and the magic of photography!
