colonel Posted February 25, 2014 Share #3 Posted February 25, 2014 Looks nice. Is the sliver top plate metal or plastic ? Someone in the Leica shop just told me its aluminum, same as the black one I think
firoze Posted February 25, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted February 25, 2014 Is the sliver top plate metal or plastic ? Someone in the Leica shop just told me its aluminum, same as the black one I think The Leica website says it is anodised, so presumably it is aluminium. XVarior Posted February 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted February 25, 2014 Is the sliver top plate metal or plastic ? Someone in the Leica shop just told me its aluminum, same as the black one I think metal of course
stussy2k Posted February 25, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 25, 2014 http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/blog/?cat=3 claims that the top plate is solid brass for the black one. The body aluminium. Can anyone confirm? However my understanding is that brass cannot be anodized, so the silver top plate could be aluminium?
earleygallery Posted February 25, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Both are aluminium - according to the Leica website!

thighslapper Posted February 25, 2014 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2014 Rats . Bought mine a month too soon .... would have preferred silver ....
rjans Posted February 26, 2014 Share #10 Posted February 26, 2014 Like it, looks more classic. But no regrets with my black one, already have a silver M8. I cannot see clear on the website but it looks like the (leather) covering is different. Best
Digitom Posted February 26, 2014 Share #11 Posted February 26, 2014 The silver on elook nice at pictures, same like the X1 was. But in real, I found (X1) looks better in black. The silver parts looks not "metallic enough" for me. So I prefer black version. But I have to say the silver XVario looks pretty nice, and if the touch and feel fits to the picture, it will find many buyers.

Silver plastic looks bad (eg x1, x2, x-e2) As the x-vario has a metal top, it will look good
stuny Posted February 27, 2014 Share #13 Posted February 27, 2014 The touch and feel of the black one, at least, is classic Leica.
Steve Lane Posted February 27, 2014 Share #14 Posted February 27, 2014 Because the x1 has a plastic top. Really? I did not know this...
spylaw4 Posted February 28, 2014 Share #15 Posted February 28, 2014 It looks very good in the "flesh". Still firmware 1.00. The standard lens cap is now tetherable a la DL6, I wonder if that's coming to the black version also?
dunos Posted February 28, 2014 Share #16 Posted February 28, 2014 How do you mean tetherable?
Holgersen Posted February 28, 2014 Share #17 Posted February 28, 2014 Because the x1 has a plastic top. Nonsense.
earleygallery Posted February 28, 2014 Share #18 Posted February 28, 2014 Because the x1 has a plastic top. Silver plastic looks bad (eg x1, x2, x-e2)As the x-vario has a metal top, it will look good The X1/2 have metal top and bottom plates. I'm pretty certain the same goes for the upper Fuji models too. spylaw4 Posted March 1, 2014 Share #19 Posted March 1, 2014 How do you mean tetherable? It has a pair of holes and with the supplied cord you can tether it to one of the strap lugs so you don't lose the lens cap

The black one I got a few weeks ago has that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
