hi, I just bought a M8, and I found it had taken actuations about 75k times already, is it used too much?

and how many actuation counts of your M8 until now? : )

Got mine sold as a bargain valued camera with about 36K actuations.

75K is quite heavy use but FWIW the shutter is rated to 150K so it is only half way there. Ask yourself whether you are likely to use it enough to reach the rated lifespan of the shutter? If so, you'll have got your money's worth.:)

No of course not, it is rated at 150K it can go higher, but if it breaks, you can easily let Leica place a new shutter in your camera.

Also Leica replaces M8 shutters for free most of the time, if they break without reason... so lets say without dropping the camera etc.

That is not a bad rating compared to most cameras. It just means that the "rated" lifespan for the shutter is 150K. Where a shutter actually fails is totally another matter and has a wide statistical spread.

Think of it like tires on a car. When they wear out you buy a new set of tires rather than junking the car.

oh thanks, I feel better now, but does Leica still support the M8's shutter replacing service until now?

So you bought the camera and then decided to ask the questions?

The other way round would have been smarter, maybe.

Anyway, don't be concerned about the actuation count. I have two original M8's. Don't know the count, don't care. they are working just fine.

Think analog. You never know the count, but can bet over the years it is greater. My 111f is 62 years old. Still functioning perfectly.

Yes they still do, the only thing they can't service on the M8 is the screen.

They still have Sensors and Shutters,

In 2013 the Shutter of Lorenzvs his leica was replaced for free.

...so sad~

Think of it this way: if you really only have 75k left, and you take 50 pictures a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, it will take you over 4 years to reach that 75k mark.

Instead of feeling sad, you should go out and enjoy this wonderful camera. Over four years of good time is waiting for you ahead!:)

I am up to 33,330.

I need to get out and snap off three more.

Bought it used with around 6000. Was not happy with the colors even with the UV/IR filters. Bought an M9 which pleases me much more, then I learned to do camera profiles

and am using the camera again.

Somewhere around 8000 now.

If you want to use wider lenses or make bigger prints, M9 is the way. I rarely use wider then 35 mm on M9 so I am ok with either.
