bayerische Posted February 9, 2014 Author Share #21 Â Posted February 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I was to get a DM-R, and it would act up with my R8, how much is Leica charging for getting the two to work? I'd hate to spend another grand on that match....

Peter Bailer Posted February 10, 2014 Share #24 Â Posted February 10, 2014 Well got the R8 in the post today, it's serial is 2297XXX... So anyone knows will it work with the DM-R? Â I am using a R8 with Nr. 22975xx with a DMR, it works perfectly. As a standby I bought a newer standby R8 with Nr. 24643xx just in case the older R8 will fail. However, I hope the DMR will never fail- good luck in finding a DMR. As stated earlier, Leica will adjust free of charge if needed, at least they did in earlier days. Â regards Peter
sc_rufctr Posted February 11, 2014 Share #25 Â Posted February 11, 2014 Finding a DMR? Â I was just plain lucky. I walked into a camera shop and there it was. Just sitting there. It had been on sale for about 3 months and the asking price included an R8, 35-70 Rom Lens, 4 batteries x2 regular chargers and a 12v charger for the car. Also in a box was an adapter for a Metz flash. Â It came with all of the boxes and original paperwork.

The well known Scottish dealer has had two in stock for well over a year, each at about £1950 (assuming that is that their listings are not hopelessly out of date). But were I a dealer I would hesitate to sell them, since the usual second-hand dealer warranty would cause real problems were they to go wrong within the warranty period; unserviceable, and therefore the dealer would just have to give the purchaser their money back, and take the hit on the whole second-hand price. leicaman94923 Posted February 11, 2014 Share #31  Posted February 11, 2014 AFAIK, Leica have never charged to get an older R8 working with a DMR  In the US Leica did charge to update the electronics on older R8's to be DMR compatible. The price they charged me was $100… and that was in 2006 when I purchased my DMR.  Lawrence
stuny Posted February 12, 2014 Share #32 Â Posted February 12, 2014 Lawrence - Â I had Leica do the same for my R8/DMR in 2006 and there was no charge. I'm not certain if Leica NJ sent it to Solms or not. Â Welcome to the Forum. I look forward to seeing your photos.
Peter Bailer Posted February 17, 2014 Share #33 Â Posted February 17, 2014 Hi DMR friends, Has anyone experience with the built in clock. Mine is recently going slow and now, if I change the accu, the time and date is going back to 2000.01.01 and the time to 0. is there another battery inside the DMR to keep the time or a chip which should hold it least for a while, during change of accu?? Peter  I would assume like a computer or laptop there is a small rechargeable button cell battery inside the DMR. So if you store your DMR with a regular battery this should top up this internal battery.  But because yours resets itself like you described above I would guess the internal battery is not holding any charge. If it bothers you this is something Leica should be able to fix. Most likely the battery would be a standard one that would be easily available.  But sending your DMR to them may not be something you want to do for all sorts of reasons.
