New Toshiba 260 MB/s SD card: Not faster on M240

Just received a used 16 GB sample of the new Toshiba Exceria Pro 260 MB/s SD card.

As far as startup times are concerned, it is not faster than the best 95 MB/s cards on both M240 (1.7s) and M8.2 (1.0s) bodies. [...]

It seems to be clear that the M240's write speed is limited and not significantly improved with a faster card.

Why is it faster on cheap 1GB and 2GB old SD cards then?

We do not know and are unlikely to find out why unless someone cracks the firmware. Gosh only know what kind of SD programming the Typ 240 has, whether pessimistic or optimistic IO, and so-forth.

Does the camera check the integrity of the SD card at startup? If so, all else being equal, the larger the card, the more time that would take...

We do no know, however checking is not necessary with the standard protocol. The card has its own IO management (next block available, etc.)
