I don't know if it's still the case but at one stage Flickr changed its terms and conditions so that any image stored on its website could be used royalty-free by large picture libraries and others who were prepared to pay for the 'privilege'. I don't know whether it's still the case so it would pay to pay close attention to the T&C's. Flickr has permanently lost my trust.

Flickr gets a much better rating on all aspects of hosting and copyright options. Compare that with 500px for example:

Terms of Service; Didn't Read

P Bucket has one advantage, free. Every time I go to post a pic, the "workflow" is new and I have to spend time relearning. It is one nasty pain.

And if they choose to steal my2x3 inch pic at 100 ppi, well let `em.

If you want a decent online presence, get a paid subscription from a decent site.

Adobe CC allows something.

All said and done, there is no free lunch and you pay one way or another.

Anyone recommend something free and similar to what this site once was, I hate the latest edition and no longer want to use it. Just for posting general pictures on the web

Any free site carries risks of loss of control over your work published on line. Even small files have value and can be upsized for uses you do not anticipate or would not wish to see happen. It is up to you to assess that risk and use or ignore such sites.

Free sites have to be funded by some means. Nothing is truly free!

The same applies to paid sites and also 'hand rolled' sites. If it can be see, it can be stolen. If it's a concern the only solution is not to post photos online.

I don't think that has ever been the case, Pete. Maybe you are thinking about the tie-up with Getty which is nothing like what you describe?
