lanetomlane Posted January 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Taken with an M9 and Tri-Elmar set to 50mm. It's such miserable weather for a New Year's Day I've not been out, but playing with some old images. I would like to wish everyone on the forum a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Advertisement Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Hi lanetomlane, Take a look here Dhoby Ghaut (Laundry), Mumbai . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted January 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2014 Excellent Tom. I'd be interested to see a colour version too. Dreadful weather in London, I'd hoped to get out and take some photos today.

Dreadful weather in London, I'd hoped to get out and take some photos today. Hi James …. and thanks for your positive comment. Yeah, it's terrible in Cambridge. I'm sat at the computer drinking Bombardier and thinking what to do next. Pity you didn't make the London bask last Saturday, it was really good. Karl G Posted January 1, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2014 Very nice and I like the color for the emphasis on the laundry and the B/W for the emphasis on the lines, structures and composition,
leica dream Posted January 1, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Colour really conveys the atmosphere of the laundry. We were there 12 months ago and it is a true spectacle. I felt that the black/white image did not do it justice. Richard
giodic Posted January 1, 2014 Share #8 Posted January 1, 2014 I think it is an image that renders well both in color and B&W... color for describing the place and the atmosphere, B&W for the "geometry" and composition of the picture...
platypus Posted January 1, 2014 Share #9 Posted January 1, 2014 Hi lanetomlane, You must know this as you have racked up more posts than I have. If you commit a simple typo and hit the submit reply button before you realise your error (in this case bask rather than bash) you can immediately correct it by hitting the edit button. You dont have to do a whole nuther post to correct ......but you knew that......
Northwest Wanderer Posted January 1, 2014 Share #10 Posted January 1, 2014 Color is nice but the b&w helps to convey the depressed look of the area.
pauledell Posted January 2, 2014 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2014 Both versions are fine, I like the b&w version better but feel the color version may actually convey the actual conditions. Paul

stuny Posted January 2, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 2, 2014 Terrific, partly due to its complexity, which comes through better in B&W.
earleygallery Posted January 2, 2014 Share #14 Posted January 2, 2014 Sorry I missed the meeting Tom, I had to get to Twickenham for 4pm and I had a long drive back from Devon the evening before, so decided to sleep in! I expected to prefer the colour version, but B&W definately works better here IMHO.
