Would you mind sharing a raw file here? I think there is more detail hidden in the file than we see right now.

I quite like the first photo in this set. Thank you for sharing. Have you printed this one yet? If so, how large? And what did you think of the print?

Thanks for comments.

No, I seldom print out the file. I edit files on Apple McPro NB and browse it on a 27" Dell UltraSharp monitor.

Please tell me the file name that you like. I will upload that file in the format of TIFF 16-bit with AdobeRGB onto the Dropbox for you.

I saw the 2.0/85 Zeiss for sale.

What does the performance of the 90 Summicron on the A7R have to do with selling the Zeiss?

Mark, mostly trimming down from the worst year of GAS I have experienced-- ever.

After finally renting and then buying a Noct 0.95, I dove into getting more interesting images with my Zeiss 85 f/2 wide open. Then the A7R came out, and I worked with the Zeiss, 90 Summicron and 90 Elmarit f/2.8. On M240, some differences were there, but on A7R, the 90 Summicron was easily my preference f/2 ~ 2.8.

Using my A7R as the ideal test bed, :p, the 85 Zeiss is better than the 90 Summicron, to my taste, from f/4 onwards. But I don't close down that much... unless I use the wonderful Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO Sonnar. So, you see, Zeiss is still very well represented.

And you expected a short answer ! Selling the 85 Zeiss was a hard decision, but I needed to balance the books somehow.

Your offer for sharing the TIFF is generous. Thank you.

K.H., Thanks!

I will try out WATE, MATE and 90 Cron for "real world" photography soon.

A7R's shutter speed dial and ISO dial work very well for me in the "long time exposure" style for recording the wave dynamics, very easy in setting various exposure duration to get different gestures.

However, even my R-E adapter features a tripod mount to set the system on a Gitzo aluminum tripod, I determine that the image can be better if shutter vibration be of no issue.

Happy New Year!

Thomas Chen

Hi, there might be some interest in my experiences with Leica M mount UWW lenses on the SONY A7 ...

-Voigtländer 5,6/12: works the same as on my M9, needing a little cropping occasionally

-Voigtländer 4,5/15: same as on M9, not used by me due to colour shift anymore

-ZEISS Distagon 4/18: works beautifully, same as on M9

-Voigtländer Skopar 4/21: same as on M9, not used by me due to colour shift anymore

-ZEISS Biogon 4,5/21: same as on M9, not used by me due to colour shift anymore

So, now we come to the Leica Elmarit 2,8/21 ASPH. It shows some vignetting, but no colour shift. Best from f8, as shown: St. Kilian in Fladungen/Rhön ...

In June 2011 the Pacheco Fire burned thousands of acres of forest in the Sangre de Cristos.

2.5 years later one can see the still standing tree trunks and their shadows in the evening sun.

Image taken from a distance of about 20 miles.

Hi, the next lens in my Leica portfolio is the Elmar 3,8/24 ASPH.

(I also have the ZEISS Biogon 2,8/25, which performs equally well,

from f4 on, as the Elmar on the A7.)

I show a pavillion at the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt/Germany a well-known

area of Art Nouveau architecture (using the SONY A7 and the Leica Elmar 3,8/24 ASPH):
