Advertisement Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Hi leica1215, Take a look here Where is your EVF made?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted December 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2013 When you buy an Apple whatever, it says designed in California, made in China or words to that effect. Leica go one stage further by not even designing it. It's simply a commodity part similar to the Olympus version and I doubt even Olympus make it themselves. The companies we as consumers buy products from are at the end of a complex global supply chain which starts with recycling coke cans or digging bauxite out of the ground and ends with a shiny product in a posh box ready for the surprise and delight un-boxing experience. You won't find any Leica EVFs made in Germany...
jcraf Posted December 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 25, 2013 None of them will be made in Germany. The EVF2 is a rebranded Olympus VF2, which is miles cheaper than the 'Leica' item and works just as well. Both are made in China by by Epson.

jaapv Posted December 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2013 I believe the box is printed in Germany. Which is a good thing, as Leica boxes hold their value quite well on the collector’s market….
ayewing Posted December 25, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 25, 2013 The Olympus VF-2 box is printed with Soy Ink which must make it a tasty product.

bephoto Posted December 25, 2013 Share #12 Posted December 25, 2013 I think they are testing how successful and popular the EVF is so they can produce a silver chrome/black paint bronze made in Germany/Portugal version with a nasty price tag of €1K which I would pay for it I'm having G.A.S attack on a product that doesn't even exist. should I visit a psychiatrist? bephoto Posted December 25, 2013 Share #13 Posted December 25, 2013 And this is why I bought EVF. Closeups with 75Lux are impossible to achieve with rangefinder, sorry I had it with focus bracketing and thank you for EVF
