FWIW, I print on an Epson 4900, and up to 17"x22" on Baryta using Imageprint RIP. Comes out very very well. My interests are in architecture and landscape, and thus small details are critical. At this size, they are all there, very nicely. Couldn't be better.

I've printed as large as 20"x30" from a MM file, and the resolution holds up really well. I print on Canson Baryta Photographique, using an Epson 7800 that I rent by the hour. The Canson paper is pretty heavy, and I've found there are fewer problems with it jamming if I use a printer with a straight-through feed.

...Or cotton/fiber base?

For b/w, I use a range of papers depending on desired image tonality and texture…each custom profiled for my 3800…

  • Epson Exhibition Fiber
  • Canson Infinity Baryta
  • Canson Platine Fibre
  • Innova Warm Cotton Gloss
  • Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta (until supply runs out…more difficult feed)

M9 image at Just under forty inches on the long side, and disappointing in real life at any distance. Grand Daughter spreading Mothers ashes.

Same dimensions scan from Leica M4 w/Canon 85mm lens at the same size was excellent ++. Go figure.

Pico, that B&W portrait is supremely beautiful. Both the woman and the photography. It is one of the images in my head that I would love to say Ï made that". The original enlargement must be magnificent.

You are very kind. I was very generously compensated for the B&W print to an almost embarrassing extent. It financed two Leicas and hundreds of rolls of film, and sheets of 8x10 film that I am just about to finish.

I will start to printing soon... Any good matte paper? Or cotton/fiber base?[/QUOT

Epson Hot Press Bright is beautiful. My standard glossy is Canson Infinity Baryta, which others have recommended. I print up to 36 inches with no problems at all.
