At about 1:18 into this short piece on the Syrian Refugees in snow covered Lebanon, you see Jeremy sitting with a family in a cold hut and his Leica M can be seen for a brief few seconds. I can't tell if the lens is 50mm or 35mm. I'd guess the 35mm by the hood.

BBC News - Syria crisis: Inside Lebanon's refugee settlements

I would have preferred if it was a film MP loaded with some 400ASA B&W film old school style, but I guess he can grab some shots through the day and review on computer later to help him build his report for the 10pm news in London.

Good to see Leica's in use in the real hard world of conflict journalism. For a middle east reporter an M with a 35mm is probably all you need as he gets in close with the subjects of his reports.

A million refugees in Lebanon has increased their population by 25% and could cripple Lebanon too. That's like having 15 million extra people in the UK !

The red dot stands out against his black Rab duvet jacket, then your eyes look to see which M it is and as there was no number it's probably the M 240. I'd assume it is his personal camera as £8k for camera and lens is a bit expensive even on our license fee for standard issue. If I was stuck out in the Middle East for months on end given the current conditions I'd want some good equipment like the M and a Rab jacket. You wouldn't last long living like the refugees with only dirty summer clothes and no clean water in winter.

Snow and the Middle East don't seem to go together. I didn't think it rained let alone snowed! Miserable conditions for the refugees, but a little better than being shot at and gassed I suppose.
