I love my new M, the charger however not so much. Well I guess the charger is OK its the cords. Other chargers have the plug built in, cords are not necessary. I travel extensively and like to carry as little as possible. Small thing in the big picture but its annoying.

Hey Naper,

If you have a Mac laptop you can use the 2 prong adapter that comes with the power cord.

Works like a charm, but I may paint mine black for more stealth charging :D

Yes I do have a Mac laptop. Yes it does work like a charm. I am going to put this in the Why didnt I think of that file. Thanks. It would still be better if the plug was integrated.

I have found that around SE Asia the quality of the power receptacles is not always ideal, and the weight of the charger with battery is such that it will often not stay attached to the socket if using a connector plugged directly into the charger. For this reason I am very glad that Leica chose not to integrate the plug into the charger body.

I and several others did this Apple Adapter a while back with the M-9.

The M-9 charger was a little thicker at the socket end and the adapter worked but was half a bubble off and the charger sat askew in the electrical socket.

The new and improved M-240 charger works much better with it.

You can also buy right angle adapters (not Apple) for a few dollars. Google "Figure 8 right angle" and they will show up. I have some that are US plugs, and some EU and UK as well for travel. But I also agree with the thought that using cords with proper plugs is better and in some cases more convenient and/or safer as the adapter with battery won't fall out of the wall or take up more than one space.

I assume Leica does it this way so they don't have to make different adapters for different countries -- just provide suitable cords. Almost every flip plug adapter I have seen if for US outlets only so you'd need a plug adapter anyhow.

I found these on ebay for $2 and bought several. They reside in all of my camera bags and no need for a cord.

I agree. The original M8 (& M9) "brick" charger came w/various snap-in plugs for different countries, but was, well, almost the size of small brick.
