Well I guess the charger is OK its the cords. Other chargers have the plug built in, cords are not necessary. I travel extensively and like to carry as little as possible. I have found that around SE Asia the quality of the power receptacles is not always ideal, and the weight of the charger with battery is such that it will often not stay attached to the socket if using a connector plugged directly into the charger. The M-9 charger was a little thicker at the socket end and the adapter worked but was half a bubble off and the charger sat askew in the electrical socket. Google "Figure 8 right angle" and they will show up. I have some that are US plugs, and some EU and UK as well for travel. But I also agree with the thought that using cords with proper plugs is better and in some cases more convenient and/or safer as the adapter with battery won't fall out of the wall or take up more than one space. I assume Leica does it this way so they don't have to make different adapters for different countries -- just provide suitable cords. The original M8 (& M9) "brick" charger came w/various snap-in plugs for different countries, but was, well, almost the size of small brick. I assume Leica does it this way so they don't have to make different adapters for different countries -- just provide suitable cords.
