LeicaFan Posted November 17, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted November 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) is there any structural differences between the m8 and m9? I've got an eye on a case which is designed for M9. But wish to use it on M8
Advertisement Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Hi LeicaFan, Take a look here Is M8 body structure same as M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted November 17, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted November 17, 2013 No, they are identical as close as makes no odds. The M8, M8.2, M9, M9-P, MM and M-E all use the same fundamental structure built around a split die-cast clamshell body with a top cover and baseplate. Â The M Typ 240 is completely different and is closer to the design of film Ms in some ways.

250swb Posted November 30, 2013 Share #5  Posted November 30, 2013 I can see the similarity, a film M won't fit an M8 case because it is too small, and the M240 won't fit because it is too big. It's the first time I have noticed they have so much in common  Steve
earleygallery Posted November 30, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted November 30, 2013 I think Mark is referring to the way the bodyshell is constructed.

It’s the first time I have noticed they have so much in common Steve Ummm.. I use my Leica M8/9 eve ready case for my M240 as well, as it is exactly the same size. A perfect fit. I only had to make an extra hole for the tripod mount screw that is in a different position. The difference Mark is referring to is the more robust interior design, not the dimensions.
