Is M8 body structure same as M9

No, they are identical as close as makes no odds. The M8, M8.2, M9, M9-P, MM and M-E all use the same fundamental structure built around a split die-cast clamshell body with a top cover and baseplate.

The M Typ 240 is completely different and is closer to the design of film Ms in some ways.

I can see the similarity, a film M won't fit an M8 case because it is too small, and the M240 won't fit because it is too big. It’s the first time I have noticed they have so much in common :)

Ummm.. I use my Leica M8/9 eve ready case for my M240 as well, as it is exactly the same size. A perfect fit. I only had to make an extra hole for the tripod mount screw that is in a different position.

The difference Mark is referring to is the more robust interior design, not the dimensions.
