rbaron Posted April 17, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted April 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you buy a new M8 from a US dealer now do you still (eventually) get two free filters from Leica US, or has that offer expired? Â If the offer is ongoing, does it have an expiration date? Â Thanks.
Advertisement Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Hi rbaron, Take a look here B&H has leica 39 and 46mm IR cut in stock. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gesper Posted April 17, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted April 17, 2007 I had bought my M8 in early November and received my free 39 and 46 a couple of weeks ago. I bought another 39 last night from B&H to use on my CV 15 and/or 25. I really don't need the 46, and wish I had asked for a 60 since I ordered a Nocti under the discount. Once the 60's are available, I will try to see if someone wants to trade the 46 for it. Â I feel kind of bad buying a second 39 when there are folks out there who don't have their free one yet, but I assumed if I had mine, most people would have theirs also. Anyway, the B&H filters would just have been sold to someone else anyway.
Shootist Posted April 17, 2007 Share #23  Posted April 17, 2007 It could be it takes more time to fill 2,000 orders for assorted filter sizes than one or two orders from B+H and the other big retailers. I wonder if the fullfillment of the free filters was subcontracted out to a third party and they are swamped with orders to fill. In other words, they have the available sizes already sent to them by Leica, but just don't have the capacity to ship thousands of orders quickly.  The filters shipped to retailers like B&H probably just go through their normal order channels.  Rob I tend to respect your opinion and think you are very knowledgeable in the field of photograghy and Leica cameras. BUT the above statement is just total BS. I could care less if it's easier to fill a retailers order then my order. MY ORDERED SHOULD COME FIRST, along with all other users that have invested or reinvested in the M system with the purchase of a M8. I bought mine knowing all the problem BUT the filters were supposed to be delivered in FEBUARY. NOT SOMETIME IN JUNE.  Leica should start sending out kisses. Because everybody likes to be kissed when they are being FUCK.
Shootist Posted April 17, 2007 Share #24  Posted April 17, 2007 If you buy a new M8 from a US dealer now do you still (eventually) get two free filters from Leica US, or has that offer expired? If the offer is ongoing, does it have an expiration date?  Thanks.   The free filter deal is for all M8 cameras purchased anywhere in the world from a authorized Leica dealer FOREVER. You buy a new M8 body, or with Lens, and you register it on the Leica website and you get 2 (TWO) free filter of your choice in either black or chrome and what ever sizes you want. The other deals were 30% off one lens IF you bought a M8 before December 31 2006 and the USA is running a deal on free lens coding. If you buy a NEW lens from a Leica USA dealer before June 30 2007 and then send in the warranty card to Leica NJ they then send you 2 voucher to have two older and or uncoded lenses coded. I just sent 3 to them the other day and I got a notice from UPS that they were delivered today. Lets see how long it take to get them back.
gesper Posted April 17, 2007 Share #25 Â Posted April 17, 2007 Also have both sizes at Popflash
charlesphoto99 Posted April 17, 2007 Share #26 Â Posted April 17, 2007 B&H no longer has 46mm - Popflash does. Â I figure when my free ones make it they'll either hit ebay or be there as back ups. Filters do eventually get scratched which is why I've always used UV filtes on my lenses. Better a scratched filter than a scratched 2K lens.

Calm down with the caps too-way annoying dude....b   No not really. What is annoying is spending $5000 on a camera body, investing many more thousands of dollars in new Leica Lenses, being promised free filters to go with some of those new lenses to correct a fault in the system, and then finding out a dealer is selling the exact same size and type Leica filter before they had the decency to send out the promised filter to customers. And to top it off finding out that one of the sizes that was supposed to be delivered in Febuary will not be here until June, Maybe.
RSL Posted April 17, 2007 Share #30 Â Posted April 17, 2007 Anyone wonder why Chrysler started going under after Daimler bought them?
charlesphoto99 Posted April 18, 2007 Share #31 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Anyone wonder why Chrysler started going under after Daimler bought them? Â Â Ha! My girlfriend is from Germany, and she'd be the first to agree that "customer service" isn't the same as we view it here. Quality and perfectionism, yes, but service is better described as "suck it up and wait your turn!"
bradreiman Posted April 18, 2007 Share #32 Â Posted April 18, 2007 funny russ-i agree in the american culture of sue everyone, companies maybe more focussed on baby'ing customers. i hear people complain about "thousands of dollars on this thousands of dollars on that" and im sure these thousands are nothing to the affluent camera owner. I havent gotten my filters yet and i bought my m8 in november but...im patiently waiting. of course im pretty even keeled. the last 2 days ive been using ir PASS filters on my m8 and having a blast-but thats just me..... photophile Posted April 18, 2007 Share #33 Â Posted April 18, 2007 the translation is roughly.."what can I answer him.." " he is not the first one to have this issue and certainly will not be the last".. Â I was highly considering buying an m8 ( have a 4-2 and 6 ) but you all seem rather less than satisfied with a bunch of things so far..to jump or not to jump? consensus? That is just poor business pratice. If you promise something to a customer you should follow through with that promise.

From previous SLR users you may find consesus to wait for an "m9". A few bumps in the road for sure (ir/filters/coding/cyan drift) but most complaints seem to be that the m8 doesn't have enough features, something M users used to applaud.
