Had an M8u (on 5 June '13) then switched back to a Canon 7D and now I have an M4 and wanting to sell my 7D for an M8. But is it still worth buying one? NJH Posted October 30, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2013 To be honest I think a lot of this stuff is overstated. I have used loads of computers that are more than 20 years old and there are plenty of electronic cameras out there many times the age of an average M8 still working fine. Leica might have run out of LCD screens but they haven't pulled the rug on the M8 yet or set a date, I for one am not particularly worried about this aspect. A more difficult question is what will happen to values when the M9s finally become much cheaper. Currently M8s are strong money second hand because they are still after all the cheapest Leica digital M and the M9 is here in the UK about twice the price. That may not be the case in a year or two. Image capturw through to PP takes much more effort. Is there a thread that gives a simple approach to gettingbto know Leica M series cameras and M8 files within PP. I have never experienced difficulty processing any M-digital files using Lightroom, upgraded progressively as new versions appeared. The latest versions always show small incremental improvements in rendering raw files. I assume you are shooting Raw and working with DNG format? Can you be more specific about your problems with PP?
