topoxforddoc Posted April 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Went for a stroll today around my local wildlife park (Cotswold Wildlife Park in Burford, Oxfordshire) with my 6 year old son. Had my DMR and 80-200/4 and came across some lovely birds (feathered variety). Can't remember what they are, but I know Doug will know the answers. Hope you like them. Best wishes, Charlie

telyt Posted April 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2007 Those are some spectacular birds! I believe they are Crowned Pigeon and Scarlet Ibis. Thanks for showing us.
stuny Posted April 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 16, 2007 Charlie - #1especially is excellent with spot-on selective focus, details, color, bokeh and framing. The 80-200 is an amazing lens that gets a great deal of bad press, mostly I suspect, from people who haven't used it. Reminds me of R8 and D2 detractors. topoxforddoc Posted April 16, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted April 16, 2007 Doug and Stu, Many thanks for your knowledgable comments. I have found the 80-200 a great lens, usable wide open. I've been able to take some low light shots at concerts that have been stunning. Best wishes, Charlie
leicamann Posted April 17, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2007 Nice shots.. a truly undervalued lens..because of the "Minolta stigma" attached to it..it hurt the purists.. Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann

Artichoke Posted April 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) but I also favor the first, with its extraordinary crown & colors both are skillfully captured & rendered a real treat to see
