tthorne Posted October 8, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was bracketing some shots earlier today and all of a sudden the camera slowed down from it's normal burst rate to something noticeably slower. I was checking it out tonight against my other 240 and there is definitely a noticeable speed difference. I swapped batteries, took out the memory card, reset the camera, set the SS 4000, and still this slower frame rate. What could cause that?

Ecar Posted October 8, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2013 Did you also swap memory cards? Do you have the same file recording options (eg, RAW+JPEG, compressed, etc.) set on both cameras?

I didn't swap memory cards, I just shot it with no card. All options are set the same. DNG uncompressed on both.

lct Posted October 8, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2013 Do you mean in C mode after five to fourteen shots depending on brightness and file format? If so it's normal.
tthorne Posted October 9, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2013 Do you mean in C mode after five to fourteen shots depending on brightness and file format? If so it's normal. No, not after any shots. It happens right away when I start a burst now.
lct Posted October 9, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 9, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK does it the same in bright and dark environments? Normal that it slows down in the dark.
tthorne Posted October 9, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted October 9, 2013 OK does it the same in bright and dark environments? Normal that it slows down in the dark. It should only slow in the dark if you are in A mode and it is choosing a slow shutter speed. In my case I am setting it manually to 1/4000 and it is still doing it. dickgillberg Posted October 9, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 9, 2013 No, not after any shots. It happens right away when I start a burst now. Do you use high ISO?
lct Posted October 9, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 9, 2013 Mine is slower in manual mode than in A mode i don't know why. It is not a new bug hopefully but i don't find other explanations.
tthorne Posted October 9, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted October 9, 2013 Do you use high ISO? Not really. 200/

In my case, I have 2 M240s side by side, all things being the same, so I am comparing them since I noticed the slowdown on mine.
dickgillberg Posted October 9, 2013 Share #13 Posted October 9, 2013 Not really. 200/400 I think I have the same experience like you with the burst. When I set the shutter to 4000 and on C the camera fires two shots and then hesitate and slows down a bit. And when I use iso 1600 the burst rate slows down to maybe 1 shot per second if lucky. I have another question about the review, when I zoom in on a picture to check the focus on my M I can only zoom in without a delay on the very last picture taken. When I look at other pictures I have to wait a second for the camera to zoom in. Does this make any sense or is my M slower than others?

I did the firmware update today, checked the burst function, and it was still slow. No big deal since the camera functions fine otherwise and I hardly use burst or bracketing ever. So I am working with it most of the day. Towards the end, I need to bracket one shot. I set it, clicliclicliclick. Back to normal. Huh??? Well, I know better then to complain, lol.
