So K-H what is your honest opinion and how do these compare with NEX7 files you must know well?

Thanks Lou,

Well let me see.

The Sony NEX-7 has an DxOMark Overall Sensor Score of 81. Tests and reviews for the camera Sony NEX-7 - DxOMark

The Sony A7R has an DxOMark Overall Sensor Score of 95. Tests and reviews for the camera Sony A7R - DxOMark

Hmm, that's quite different.

I have used the NEX-5N, NEX-7, OM-D E-M5, and OM-D E-M1 not only with their own native lenses but also with Leica M and R lenses for all sorts of things, landscape, wildlife, etc.

Once I have the Sony A7R I will continue to use those cameras, but mostly for situations in which the extra reach is of importance.

So, that's primarily for wildlife, birds, etc photography in which typically only a central portion of an image gets used.

I believe the A7R will make a nice combo with the Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90/2.8-4.5 ASPH.

It will be interesting to use it for situations in which the entire image is of interest and not just a small central part.

Anyway, here is an image taken with the NEX-7 + Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90/2.8-4.5 ASPH.

It shows the Frijoles Canyon of Bandelier National Monument with the Jemez mountains as backdrop.

Although the Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90/2.8-4.5 ASPH. lens isn't perfect - I had to correct for chromatic aberration in corners -

I believe it delivers excellent image quality also with the Sony A7R.

Dealer just told me that my A7R will be delayed for one week in delivery.

No explanation is given. I guess the demand has exceeded supply somewhere in the market.

See! Leica isn't the sole one who delays camera delivery :D.

One week is a round off for Leica and is nothing compared to the 6 months I waited for the M from announcement.

200% if correct is way over estimates.

I wonder how many 200% over estimates for preorders represents. That and how it compares to the number of M240 cameras that have been delivered to this point.

Not far away from you in Hong Kong shipping seems to have begun. A friend ordered an A7R and 35 two weeks ago (directly from Sony) and she received a text message yesterday saying that the camera's available for collection today (the 15th). At the time of order she was quoted "mid-November" availability for the camera and "end of November" for the lens.

I've scoured some a7r pages over interwebs and have to say I'm very curious to try this camera out. I think it is going to work very well with something like the Noctilux and 75 Summilux and I may just buy one for that alone and leave The M9 for the 21mm and 35mm Summilux's.

I'm excited to try it out.

Hi Paul,

Welcome, please join the club.

At the moment my A7R is scheduled to be shipped December 2, 2013.

Unfortunately I don't have the 75 Summilux.

So, the 75 Summicron will have to do.:D

If it works with the 35 Summilux, I think I'll be happy.

Purpose of this camera for me (i.e., why would I use it instead of the M9 - SACRE BLEU!)? Well, it's weather sealed, does video, is compact and rugged, has live view, and takes both M mount and Nikon F mount lenses.

This could be a lot of fun.

Cheers

John

Further to my last post, I can confirm that Sony HK have hit their estimate of "mid-November" delivery by handing out cameras today to those who ordered online. Surprisingly, they've beaten their "end of November" estimate for the 35mm lens by two weeks and are handing these over as well today.

I guess real world reports on the performance of the camera will quickly follow.

Forum members' reports in RAW are real world :)

And then getting a message from my dealer, that I can come around with my lenses and with the adaptor.

Can the Novoflex M2E adaptor, that came out shortly after the first Sony E, can be used without restrictions on the 7A?
