k-hawinkler Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2063 Posted November 11, 2013 I am now switching my order to the DP2. Hope I can use my R lenses on it somehow. Well, I may be mistaken, but doesn't the DP2 have a fixed lens? I believe DP1, 2, and 3 all have different focal length, no?
naturephoto1 Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2064 Posted November 11, 2013 Well, I may be mistaken, but doesn't the DP2 have a fixed lens? Yes and as I it has what Sigma calls a 46 MP Foveon sensor and is supposed to only be a great performer at low ISO. It also like other sensors has its issues. I am still not sure if the test had the A7r shot as JPEGs. Rich

Well, obviously one needs an own A7R to know exactly what has been done to an image.
colonel Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2066 Posted November 11, 2013 "Contax G lenses are well-known high quality, well priced and autofocus capable lenses. And thanks to the new soon to be released Techart adapter you will be able to use them with full AF and Aperture control on your A7-A7r" Looks like the A7 will be the camera of the decade with the support of the century
gyoung Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2067 Posted November 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) We have a similar English phrase to the German one quoted on #2061, 'It's better to travel hopefully than to arrive'. Its been so true of digital 'solutions' for M lenses up to now, lets hope its not the same this time. In the meantime, I took my M3 and M6ttl out yesterday, and enjoyed the pure mechanical experience, its raining this morning so no gardening, I'll get the Coolscan out and scan some of the Provia I took in the last few weeks into 24mp 24 bit files and wonder at the quality, with no 'vignetting' to speak of, no purple edges, no Italian flags, no smearing. ModernMan Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2069 Posted November 11, 2013 If Sony were to build an MF camera similar to the A7 that will handle Hassy, Leica S and Mamiya lenses, they would instantly take over the MF market. Lucky for those other companies that Sony isn't interested in that small niche. All resistance is futile.... telling myself to wait until there is C1 and DXO support. Pixel count is already in the realm of the S. Probably an adapter available (or will be). Just not using 100% of the lens imaging size.

Guest Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2071 Posted November 11, 2013 "I was told there is a cable release coming, and that it will use the multi-port." Hear, hear! sonyalpharumors.com Sitting on the fence, waiting, with no rush. Never bought anything before it was not confirmed by many others and available from my trusted dealer. It might be here in time for Christmas. And only of interest if it works with my M lenses.
AlanG Posted November 11, 2013 Share #2072 Posted November 11, 2013 "I was told there is a cable release coming, and that it will use the multi-port." The cable release is called the Sony RM-VPR1 and is available now. It works with several new still and video cameras and can fit into the USB port or the multiport. Some cameras, such as the N3 with 16-50 power zoom can also be zoomed via the remote.

bernd_muc Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2074 Posted November 12, 2013 What is the freaking deal. Isn't there anyone out there yet that has the A7R or the A7 that knows how to take a decent picture. All of these links are to pathetic, unfocused images [...]I don't think that anyone? owns any of these cameras at present.I totally agree with Rick. The cameras have been on display at Sony Stores around the world almost since the announcement. One would think that someone has a 18 or 21 SEM and a M-to-E adapter living close to one and take some pictures. I don't have an adapter - otherwise I would have visited the store in Hong Kong ... ns_ng Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2075 Posted November 12, 2013 Lou, I think that he is just trying to push the number of responses in the thread. In any case, if the rumors are correct, some of our members and others on other fora may receive their cameras in Asia and Europe in only 9 to 12 or so days. It may be longer than that, but hopefully someone will be getting them in less than 2 weeks or so. I know that there are a lot of anxious people waiting for their cameras (I know that I am waiting for my A7r and I really want it soon; I have been waiting for years for an acceptable R Solution) and also waited with baited breath regarding which WA RF lenses will work well with the A7 and the A7r. Rich Sony HKG will start shipping the A7/A7R this week to those who have pre-ordered. Those pre-sales A7/A7R packages were all sold out. Thomas Chen Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2076 Posted November 12, 2013 Local dealer tells me that the AR7 will be delivered to me this Saturday (Sony Taiwan offers an extra battery for customers who make a pre-order). I'll firstly try M-WATE, 21/2.8 ASPH, 24/2.8 ASPH and 28/2.0 ASPH as well as R 21-35/3.5-4 and then the rest of my Leica M & R lenses.

3D-Kraft.com Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2079 Posted November 12, 2013 I'll firstly try M-WATE, 21/2.8 ASPH, 24/2.8 ASPH and 28/2.0 ASPH as well as Thomas, as from my first test shots the WATE looked very promising. Curious to see your RAWs! If I may request a wish, please shoot from tripod with f/8 and 1 stop over-exposure so that we do not need to push the vignetted edges too much. And it would be helpful to see images with something meaningful in the edges (e.g. by turning the camera 30-40 degrees as shown in my article with the monochrome samples).
